This is a Valentino/Major sound effect that has been used until Major Records closed in the early 2010's. The whistle that is heard in this sound effect is rumored to be a Nathan Freight 5 Chime steam whistle recorded from New York Central Railroad K5-b 4-6-2. But NYC Mercury wore a Long Bell 3 chime whistle. So, it’s most likely that the whistle might be just a Star Brass 5 chime whistle. it is also the same recording as Valentino Steam Engine, Going off.
Description
The whistle is a Nathan Freight 5 Chime used on Early 4-8-4 ATSF Passenger Trains. It was also used on the NYC Railroad.

Trivia
- Many railfans rumored that this was the actual whistle of the NYC K5-b, but in reality the K5-b used a Long Bell 3 chime whistle rather than a 5 chime whistle. So it’s entirely possible that this whistle actually could be a Star Brass 5 chime whistle since they were very common to hear on sound effect vinyls.
