Hey people, since I can't change my username anymore, you guys can call me "TheKewlGeekWiki" or by my Discord name, "KoolBoy2001" (kinda wish I did this one in hindsight since this was my original early 2010s Minecraft username). My username as read is some GoAnimate bullshit that I made years back, so if I could change my username again, it would be TheKewlGeekWiki. I mainly do animal and cartoon sounds on the wiki, but may venture out into others. I made my account in 2015, but I became a contributor in January 2018.

Anyways, like the lion's share of SFX Wiki users, especially us admins, I am neurodivergent/autistic.

SFX Wiki and Misophonia

You know, most people on here, myself included, have the condition called misophonia, which is when one has a strong and negative emotional response to a specific sound, which is why some of us cry and be mad after hearing a trigger, stock sound effect or otherwise. Thus, it is natural for us to vent after we hear a sound we hate.

I, however, absolutely positively DON'T condone going out of your way to physically harm or guilt trip the sound editors who use a sound with which you don't agree. Not only are those sound editors most likely completely oblivious to the specific misophonic's existence, but odds are, the editors chose the specific effect before the individual was even born.

Let's also not forget that sound editors are people too. Therefore, they choose stock sounds for a project for a living. You wouldn't want your job to be bashed on for no reason, do you?

I'll admit that I used to be one of these people, but that's changed. In fact, I made a rule on the Venting Thread against using illegal activity against sound editors (murder, animal/child abuse, all that stuff). The Venting Thread no longer exists. TBH, as a former thread-venter, after I made a YouTube video calling out three users who shall not be named, I have slowly, but surely, became down to the removal of the venting thread.

Remember, don't pull the misophonia card to encourage violence against sound editors!
