A picture of Handy Dandy Railroad (ex-U.S. Navy) steam locomotive #9 (The engine that was originally thought to be responsible for the recordings.), idling at the main Handy Dandy Railroad's station with a passenger train.

This is a rare sound effect that can not be found on any (already known) sound effects library, and it is going to be placed in the Unknown Sound Effects Library. It debuted in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012), and served as the whistle on Circus Zaragoza #1219.
Originally, most believed that the whistle heard in this sound effect is said to be a Baldwin 3 chime steam whistle that was recorded from Handy Dandy Railroad (ex-U.S. Navy) #9.
Currently, the whistle is said to be a Crosby 3 chime that was recorded from Tweetsie Railroad (White Pass & Yukon) #190. However, it’s most likely that it actually came from TVRM #610’s Lunkenheimer 3 chime whistle.
