The Getaway is a 1972 American action film directed by Sam Peckinpah, based off the 1958 novel of the same name written by Jim Thompson, with a screenplay by Walter Hill. It stars Steve McQueen as Carter "Doc" McCoy, a Texas prisoner denied parole for a ten-year sentence for armed robbery. His wife Carol - played by Ali MacGraw - conspires to get him parole, and corrupt parole board member Jack Beynon agrees provided that Doc and Carol rob a bank. When the heist goes south after one of the henchmen kills a security guard, Doc and Carol are forced to flee.
