Streets of SimCity is a 3D vehicular combat game developed by Maxis and published by Maxis (US) and Electronic Arts (EU). The main campaign of the game is split into five different campaigns: In the regular "Streets of SimCity" campaign, the player takes on random missions with no overarching storyline. In "Zippy's Courier Service", the player plays as a redneck package delivery guy who hopes to make it big. In "Galahad's Watch", the player takes on the role of a tough-as-nails cop who is trying to crack a major conspiracy. In "Granny's Wild Ride", the player takes control of an old woman trying to stop an alien invasion. Finally, "Race For Your Life" is a largely racing-based campaign. However, the player can also freely roam cities in the "Player's Choice" mode, with or without packages and enemies.

The player has a choice of five different vehicles: the StreetRat, which is a VW Bug, the AirHawk, which is a 60s-70s muscle car, the HMX Utility Van, which is a box van, the Azzaroni, which is a vintage European sports car, and the J57, which is a Ford GT40. The player can equip their car with five different types of weapons: a machine gun, a missile launcher, a proximity mine dropper, an oil slick dropper, and a smokescreen. The player can also equip their car with varying types of engines, tires and a bevy of gadgets such as police radar detectors and deflector shields.

However, what really sets Streets of SimCity apart from other vehicular combat games is the ability to import any city from SimCity 2000 and drive around in it. Also, the soundtrack - composed by Jerry Martin - contains four different genres of music: jazz-funk, rock, country & western, and techno. There is also a fifth radio station with a mix of the four aforementioned genres, plus the ability to toggle DJ chatter and commercials.
