Sora 2, released by OpenAI on September 30, 2025, represents a significant leap in AI video generation by natively incorporating synchronized, high-fidelity audio, including sound effects, dialogue, and ambient soundscapes. Unlike previous versions, Sora 2 automatically generates audio that fits the scene's visual content, such as footsteps, weather effects, or environmental noises, in addition to dialogue with natural lip-syncing.
On March 24, 2026, OpenAI announced that the app will be shutting down on April 26, 2026.
