This is a Skywalker Sound sound effect. It was created by Tim Nielsen or Will Fyles, and it debuted in The Polar Express (2004). Just like the chugging sound, this sound was a recording of the bell equipped on Pere Marquette Berkshire #1225.

Used In

Movies

  • The Fabelmans (2022) (An extremely high pitched variant of this sound is heard once when Sammy's Lionel train rounds a bend before he recreates a scene from "The Greatest Show on Earth".)
  • The Lone Ranger (2013) (Either this sound or a near identical sound is used twice for the bell that is near the station at Colby when Transcontinental Railroad No. 29's train roars by it.)
  • The Polar Express (2004) (Debut; used as the sound of the locomotive's bell ringing.)
