These are sound effects that were made by Skywalker Sound. They were created Tim Nielsen or Will Files ,and they debuted in the 2004 motion-capture animated Christmas film, The Polar Express (2004). It should be noted that these sound effects sound very similar to, but should not be confused with SKYWALKER, WHOOSH - PROPELLOR BLADES THWOPPING RAPIDLY.
Originally, these sounds were thought to have been recorded from Pere Marquette steam locomotive #1225. (The locomotive that was used for some of the locomotive's sounds in The Polar Express.)
But from recent information from member "Thereaalex", he stated that these sounds were (believed) to have been recorded Southern Pacific Railroad steam locomotive #2472 going at a high rate of speed. But of course, it is unknown if this information is true or false.
