This is a rare train sound used first by Fleischer Studios and then Famous Studios. it is used in cartoons from the 1940's to the 1950's.
The whistle heard in this sound was first said to be from Canadian Pacific No. 2860's 6 chime steam whistle but it was later disproven. then it was said to be from New South Wales Goverment Railways No. 3820's 5 chime but it was also disproven after the discoverie of the complete version.
in conclusion, the whistle is a Star Brass 5 chime whistle, probably from a Southern Pacific steam engine.
