NSPCC - Can't Look (1999)

Storyline

The PSA begins with a baby crying offscreen inside a room and an extremely angry mother (also offscreen) shouts "SHUT UP!!! I'M GONNA SMASH YOUR FACE AGAINST THAT COT IF YOU DON'T SHUT YOUR SCREAMING NOOOOIIIISE!!!!!!" and hits her baby as the camera pans into one of the teddy bears in wallpaper covering their eyes. Next, a poster of Alan Shearer is seen covering his eyes as an angry father from offscreen says to his child "Come and sit over here" as the camera pans out of the poster. Next, a mug with Rupert the Bear (also covering his eyes) appears as another angry father bangs the table as he shouts to his son off-screen "YOU'RE BRAINLESS, YOU'RE STUPID!!! YOU'RE NO SON OF MINE!!!" before flinging the mug. Next, an Action Man toy covers his eyes as the camera pans from it to a door as a boy says off-screen "Mummy, where are you? I don't like being on my own." And finally, a magazine (with the Spice Girls covering their eyes on the cover) on the bed, as yet another angry father from offscreen apparently molests his daughter while saying to her off-screen "Not a word to anyone. This is going to be our little secret." (alternatively, the daughter says "Daddy, please don't do this.") while the bed covers move. The PIF ends with a message "to help stop cruelty to children" with the NSPCC phone number and then a NSPCC logo with the message "Cruelty to children must stop. Full stop." and a narration "Sometimes, we can't bear to look either. But cruelty to children can be stopped, and with your help, it can be stopped forever. Please, support the NSPCC's new Full Stop campaign." over a female opera-falsetto music. Alternatively, the narration wasn't heard, just the opera-falsetto music.
