Louis & Luca and the Snow Machine (Norwegian: Solan og Ludvig - Jul i Flåklypa) is a Norwegian animated adventure comedy and family film from 2013, directed by Rasmus A. Sivertsen. The script was written by Karsten Fullu based on the book Solan og Ludvigs jul by Harald Sommerin Simonnæs, which in turn is based on characters from Kjell Aukrust's universe.
It was shot in stop-motion (puppet film) and was produced by Maipo Film in collaboration with Qvisten Animation.
Christmas in Flåklypa became very popular and with its 854,000 visitors became the most watched film in Norwegian cinemas in 2013. In addition, it had almost 38,000 visitors in 2014, bringing the total number of visitors to 892,000.
It was also very well received by reviewers. Among other things, it received a roll of the dice six from Aftenposten, five from VG, Dagbladet, Filmpolitiet, BT and four from Adressa and FilmMagasinet.
Storyline
With the festive period fast approaching and the small village of Flaklypa experiencing a lack of snow, local inventor Alfie Clarke is asked to create the world's biggest snow machine. However, determined to get a sensational story for his newspaper, ambitious editor Frederick Hansen steals the machine to create a record snowfall.
