Storyline

A Gascon dog falls in love with the queen's own lapdog and follows her to court. She gives him the task of rescuing her mistress, who gave her diamond pendants to her lover, the Duke of Buckingham, but at the king's request must appear in them at the ball.

The faithful Gascon with his new friends from the royal kennel - Fatso, Handsome and Noble - sets off for England. Along the way, the cardinal's cats, led by Milady, lure Fatso, who loves to eat well, with sausage, and Handsome, who is drawn to pastoral work, with sheep that "no one is herding", and seriously injure them. The remaining Noble distracts the cats from the Gascon, and he, having crossed the sea to England and taking advantage of the solidarity with the local dogs, steals the pendants. Bats, who are also at odds with cats, help him cross back.

Arriving in time for the ball, the brave dog, having earned the love, admiration and gratitude of the beautiful lapdog, triumphantly strides through Paris with his bandaged friends (with the puppies of Dog and Lapdog running after them) and chases the Cardinal's cats through its streets.
