Fireboy & Watergirl (also commonly written as Fireboy and Watergirl) is a 2009 local cooperative puzzle platformer web game series developed by Oslo Albet (formerly) for the now-defunct Adobe Flash platform.
The general gameplay consists of the titular characters being controlled by one or two players and navigating through an element-themed temple through its exit doors within a specific time frame while collecting diamonds. Various core mechanics include levers, buttons, and pulleys, but more would be added down the series' line.
The series would debut with The Forest Temple, being released in November 19th, 2009 on the web game portal Armor Games and spread through other websites. The series in its heyday would get multiple sequels starting with The Light Temple on October 26th, 2010, then The Ice Temple on April 5th, 2012, and lastly The Crystal Temple on March 29th, 2013.
Over the course of May to October 2018, the series would be entirely rewritten to accommodate the HTML5 platform likely as a mix of Albet and his team being aware of the oncoming discontinuation of Flash and pulling the series away from Flash's dated architecture. The fifth entry, Elements, would be released on December 9th, 2018 on the Microsoft Store app, making it the first new installment in the series since The Crystal Temple; it would be released on other platforms shortly thereafter. The current latest entry is Fairy Tales, being first released on September 30th, 2021 on all Android platforms and subsequently on other platforms.
The series has generally met widespread acclaim by players and critics alike, becoming one of the most recognized and beloved Flash game series of all time.
