This is a Disney sound effect that is not on Hollywoodedge's Cartoon Trax Volume 1 or Hanna-Barbera Sound Effects Library. The whistle that is heard in the recording is said to be the New York Central 5 chime steam whistle from locomotive #999 (a.k.a “The Empire State Express”) or a Star Brass 5 chime steam whistle. However, it is unlikely that this locomotive was the one responsible, due to the lack of media confirming that it sported the whistle. This is due to the fact that most footage of the locomotive in operation were silent films, as the locomotive operated during the late 1800's, and early 1900's. However there’s only one piece of media were #999’s whistle can be heard with sound, which was in the video of the Chicago Railroad fair from 1948 to 1949, released in 1958.[1]
