Fitz' Re-election
The First Family
Fitz, Mellie, Karent, Jerry Grant Jr. and Teddy Grant take part a Live First Family TV interview, with journalist Noah Baker.
But Twenty-Four hours before the interview Fitz and Mellie prepping for the visit from the children. The family dinner conversation is awkward and Olivia senses something is up with the Grant kids. She asks Abby to dig in to their backgrounds - as it turns out, Jerry is running an anonymous anti-Fitz campaign online. He also purchased a snazzy new “Reston for President” t-shirt. There’s a big blowup between father and children in the Jerry's bedroom. An upset Karen rushes off only to find her mother in a compromising position with Andrew just down the hall. Olivia gets a firsthand look at this second First Family affair.
Military Bases
Lizzy Bear pays off Michael for the incriminating pictures of himself and Cyrus. She gets some bonus info from her inside man. Michael reveals that someone inside the White House is worried about the president’s plan to shudder some military bases. Lizzie takes this info to Noah Baker at BNC Special Report.
Mellie Grant and First Lady Bitsy Cooper bond during her visit to The White House, after her husband Edward Randolph Cooper passed away. During a press event where Mellie takes the time to assure the world that the rumors that her husband Fitz Grant is closing military bases are completely untrue. The rumours were true; Cyrus realizes that Michael might be behind the initial leak.
Cyrus and Michael's Engagement
When Elizabeth North thinks someone is bugging her phone she goes to Olivia Pope & Associates for help, Olivia finds out that it is Cyrus Beene bugging Elizabeth's phone. Olivia tells Elizabeth that her phone was hacked by the goldilocks bug, Elizabeth finds out the truth and as a retaliation, she leaks pictures of Michael Ambruso and Cyrus together, leading Cyrus to quit as Chief of Staff. The leaked photos eventually lead Cyrus and Michael lie about getting engaged but they eventually get married. "Where the Sun Don't Shine"
Fitz and Mellie's Marraige
Fitz and Mellie sit down with Noah Baker to deny the allegations of an affair. During the interview Abby Whelan and Secret Service agents burst into the room, they shuffle Fitz and Mellie away. Abby explains that she needed to stop the interview. because Olivia Pope just told the world that she’s the president’s mistress. When Olivia shows up at the White House, Fitz declares that they should tell the truth.
Olivia Loves Fitz
Leo Bergen advises Olivia to just tell the truth. So, Olivia goes on national TV to talk about the ring and the affair. When the subject of regrets comes up, she admits that she wishes she’s never laid eyes on the president because of all the hardship it has caused her friends. It’s also hurt the business she’s worked so hard to build. If she had never laid eyes on Fitz, she never would have fallen in love with him, and he wouldn’t have fallen in love with her. Mellie reveals to Cyrus that she’s the one who leaked the Fitz/Liv ring bombshell to the press. The two of them chow down on brownies, five kinds of cheese and sparkling wine while watching the news. Cyrus apologizes for ever bringing Olivia onto the campaign.
