<p>I think it has has something to do with the name "Marie Wallace" because remember, Olivia asks Huck for the name of the terrorist on the no-fly list. Or at least I think that's what she asks at the end of the episode. However, it's confusing because Olivia originally wrote it off as her father creating garbage to keep her mom from fleeing the country.  </p><p>The only way to really determine if her mother is "the monster" is to hear what she actually did 22 years ago. And I think we'll find that out as the season moves on, because for now, I think we only have a fraction of what really happened. Like, why was Livvie's mama gonna rat her own husband out? Why did Rowan decide to keep Maya locked in a prison instead of killing her for her presumed actions against the republic?  </p><p>(Man, the political scientist in me is very proud that they used the word "republic" for the US since that is what it actually is despite the giant shift towards democracy.)  </p><p>Eitherway, I think this will be a very tough season for Olivia and I think that's what the writers intended. Perhaps, they wanted to show more depth to Olivia than her just being a "whore" to the President.  </p>

<p>Republic is a form of government, and democracy is the idea of voteing to enact political change.  You're parroting the lines of people who are looking to justify disenfranchising voters.  Its just a thing that people like to do when their party isn't in control.  Believe me, when republicans are in power, they are more than happy to use the popular will of the voters who voted them in office as support for their positions. </p>

<p>She realized that when she as 12, right after her mom left, someone called the house asking for a Marie. And Marie was the name of the terrorist that her father put on the no fly list. She comes to the conclusion that her mother is the monster through two reasons: 1, her father is nasty, but he is still her father and she is still his daughter. 2, Olivia has come to realize that as nasty as her father is, he always has a reason for the evil things he does, no matter how twisted they are. </p>

<p>I'm not sure I follow your reasoning. 1, yes he is still her father and she is still his daughter, but the same is also true of Maya. She is still her mother and Olivia is still her daughter. I don't know how him being her father makes her mother the monster. 2, I also don't get why him having reasons for the evil things he does would make him less of a monster than her mother, who also probably has reasons for the things she does. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens, and hopefully more will be revealed in time. </p>
