Step Inside the High-Stakes World of ABC’s Scandal. Tour the political offices and intimate retreats of the hit ABC show Scandal - Architectural Digest
President Fitz Grant's Oval Office
"The details of President Fitzgerald Grant’s Oval Office were not inspired by those of Oval Offices in the past, most presidents had the room designed to match their style and comfort. Fitz is a worrier, hence his office is often the bastion of fret and concern. Light, cheerful, and neutral would not be a consideration."
"Set decorators Amy Wells and Barbara Cassel added a touch of class in redoing the sofa and drapes, most of the White House looks to have been dressed by First Lady Mellie Grant. Played by Bellamy Young, the beautiful Mellie is a Stepford–type wife who tolerates her husband’s infidelity for her own political ambition. Barbara dressed the residence in a taut classic style to reflect Mellie's personality."

The Olivia Pope and Associates Offices
"During the making of the pilot, the conference table was a very important piece of the room’s design for Shonda, finding something we could rent for the pilot that matched her specifications proved challenging. We turned to the idea of having a table made. It has been one of our most recognized set-dressing pieces. - The table was constructed by District Millworks in Los Angeles.
"Olivia’s office needed to feel powerful but a bit soft at the same time, the desk is deliberately open and a little less traditional. There was consideration given to her need to stay on top of world events, hence the TV on the wall. There is also storage, because Olivia is always on the go. She has a change of clothes, shoes, and, of course, her fabulous accessories stored in the office’s armoires . . . and maybe a few bottles of wine as well."
