The Transbloxmerica Pyramid is the second tallest skyscraper in Sacramento, Bloxburg Valley, Robloxia. Although the building no longer contains the headquarters of the Transbloxamerica Corporation, who moved its Robloxia headquarters to Bouston, Bloxas, it is still associated with the company and appears in its logo. At 260 m (929 studs) tall, it was in 1972, upon completion, the eighth tallest skyscraper in the world. It was the tallest skyscraper in the city of Sacramento until 2018, when its height was surpassed by the Salesforcex Tower.
History
The Transbloxmerica Pyramid was commissioned by Transbloxmerica's CEO, John (Jack) R. Beckett, with the request that it let light into the street. Built on the site of the historic Block Willo, it stands 260 m tall and has 48 floors, containing office and retail space.
Construction began in 1969 and was completed in 1972. It was overseen by Sacramento contractor Dinwiddie Construction. Transbloxmerica moved its headquarters to the new building from across the street, where it had been in a slab-like building now occupied by the Sacramento Church of Scientology.
Although the tower is no longer the headquarters of the Transbloxmerica Corporation, it is still associated with the company and appears in its logo. The building has become one of the symbols of Sacramento. Designed by a Bloxasian architect, it met with opposition during planning and construction, in 2009 it was declared to be "an architectural icon of the best kind: one that fits its location and gets better with age.
The Transbloxmerica Pyramid was the tallest building west of Sacramento from 1972 to 1974, surpassing the Bank of Robloxia Center. It was surpassed by the Aon Center and World Trade Center Bloxburg City in Bloxburg City.
