Tramlink is a cancelled operator for Stepford County Railway (SCR). The operator was intended to be a light rail tram system in Stepford County and other districts.
The cancellation of Tramlink was announced in 2020, alongside the cancellation of Stepford Metro during an SCR Q&A by the SCR Directors, stating many reasons why Tramlink was cancelled, including the inability to gain sufficient funding for the operator.
History
Stepford once had a expansive tram network, which was shut down in 1958. In 2003, Transport for Stepford released a plan for a new operator called Tramlink. It was not finalized until 2011, when the entire route was decided. Construction started in 2016, with a groundbreaking ceremony at Whitney Green station. This section of the line would have been open cut. By 2018, it was shown that a clear path had already been excavated, including the tunnel. In 2019, it was announced that the TramLink project would be indefinitely paused to regain funding. By 2020, Transport for Stepford made an announcement at their virtual Q&A session, that both Stepford Metro and TramLink would be canceled due to funding not sufficient to continue the line as is. Upon news of the cancellation, in 2021, the tracks beyond Greenslade were torn out in preparation to board up the tunnel, which would occur in 2022. However, according to a video on BloxTube, some urban explorers had found another entrance to the tunnel and the maintenance shaft that would be used by TFS track crews. It is not known as of 2024 if this entrance still stands.
Route
Robinson Way station
Greenslade Station
The line was planned to run from Whitney Green to West Berrily, and tracks were laid for 9 miles near the TFS’ Stepford City Zone. The line started at Whitney Green, which ran along the existing Waterline tracks, continuing to Robinson Way station. The line then continued on to Greenslade, where it would go underground into a tunnel.
