This tornado outbreak was a one-day severe weather event that produced numerous significant tornadoes across the Northeast. 10 Robloxians died in the outbreak, and it left R$266 billion in damages. 36 tornadoes were confirmed over the one-day span, three of which were violent (EF4).
Meteorological Synopsis
0000 to 0600
As a powerful shortwave trough dropped into northern Robloxia and moved east, the stage was set for a one-day tornado outbreak in the Northeast. The first six hours featured high instability and good shear across the central and eastern portions of Livetopia and Seaboard, but a cap that did not erode. The RSPC had an enhanced risk with a 10% hatched tornado risk in place for much of central and east Livetopia and Seaboard, with a 5% risk extending into northern Brickland. Six tornadoes touched down on the first six hours. Zero violent tornadoes touched down on the first six hours. An EFU tornado touched down on the first six hours.
0600 to 1200
The most prolific six hours of the outbreak took place here. A strong surface low was located near the Bloxburg Valley-Brickland border, with a cold front draping down through west Brickland into northern Livetopia. A warm front in central/north Brickland was also expected to be a focus for tornadic activity later that day. 0-1 km helicity was in the 250-400 m2/s2 range and MLCAPE exceeded 3,000-4,000 J/kg in some spots. The RSPC issued a moderate risk with a 15% hatched tornado risk for much of central and southern Brickland, which was eventually upgraded to a high risk at the 1007 outlook. A tornado watch was issued, and several long-tracked, intense supercells developed, spawning 14 tornadoes, nine of which were rated EF2 or higher, including 2 EF4's. The high concentration of significant and long-tracked tornadoes on those six hours is fairly unique for outbreaks and the region. Storms congealed into an MCS, and several QLCS tornadoes occurred across Bloxburg Valley, many of which were significant; no such tornadoes were rated EF4.
1200 to 1800
The MCS from the previous six hours had weakened, and rapid destabilization occurred in north Brickland and southern Bloxburg Valley. The surface low had moved southeast, now positioned in northeast Livetopia. A moderate risk was issued with a 15% hatched tornado risk across the northern half of Brickland. While isolated supercells were anticipated in that region, the warm front in southern Bloxburg Valley would also be a focal point for tornadic activity on those six hours. Modest to good wind shear coupled with excellent instability allowed for eight tornadoes to form, including one EF4 having a path length of about 91 miles. A high-end EF2 tornado tracked through western Brickland, as well. Activity became sloppy, as another MCS formed, continuing through the night until weakening.
1800 to January 27, 2022, 0000
Another moderate risk for tornadoes was issued on those six hours, this time for northwest Bloxburg Valley. An enhanced risk extended into Central Bloxburg Valley, where a more conditional, but still significant, tornado threat existed. The surface low on this day was located in extreme southwest Livetopia, and the whole warm sector was primed for supercells and tornadoes. Again, modest to good wind shear existed across northwest Bloxburg Valley, northeast Livetopia, and southern Seaboard, with plentiful instability that would normally be found in summertime. Eight tornadoes touched down, but no EF4's. A town outside of Northeastern Robloxia was hit by two separate tornadoes within 15 minutes. A town in Bloxburg Valley was hit in this outbreak by a high-end EF3 tornado, starting cleanup efforts. Storms tapered off, bringing an end to the outbreak.
