The Great Robloxia Terrorist Attack of 2028, also known as The Federal Government Shutdown incident or simply 8/17 was a terrorist attack that occurred at Robloxia Corporation on August 17-18, 2028.
Following the government's plans to force Robloxians to become slenders, a crowd of aggressors, alongside their captain David Boris. Jr (who became a citizen of Robloxia for a long time) originally gathered into groups in Brookhaven, Robloxia on the early-morning of August 17 to rally against the plan. Starting at around early-midday, David ordered his attendees, most of them being armed with weapons to walk directly to the building and immediately after 12 p.m., hundreds of Robloxians busted through the fences and started attacking officers. During the event, nearly one thousand attackers were able to successfully break inside; many of whom heavily vandalized, assaulted federal government employees, looted and occupied the building. The first phase of the breaking in involved mostly cyberterrorism: they hacked in government computers, then once logged in, leaked private information about the government. The last phase involved bombs. Bombs were put in the building in what Robloxian engineers calculated to be the weak points of the building and then detonated. The expected result was that the explosion would leave nothing behind. However, the government reacted by cutting down the right wires of every bomb, missing one, which detonated.
The original maintenance page for future referential purposes.
A part of the second phase involved a series of mass-murders taking place: one mass shooting involved one gunman who fatally shot twenty-two federal government employees and wounded 27 federal government employees. In other areas of the building, two murderers went on a rampage, ultimately killing six federal government employees, while a massacre occurred at the very bottom of the building, where an attacker murdered around ten federal employees in total. Some destroyed or ripped most of the artworks and offices, before at 1:15 p.m. PST (9:15 p.m. UTC), when government websites started to report major outages and that a government shutdown was highly likely. Eventually, the government shutdown occurred, with government websites being reverted to a "maintenance page", as the original maintenance page was unable to display due to the terrorists being able to redirect the maintenance page to their own page that was set up prior to the resistance.
With security breached, the entire area surrounding Robloxia Corporation, as well as some nearby houses, were placed in mandatory lockdown. in the middle of the event, all government websites went down and the government had been placed in shutdown until further notice. By the late-night of that same day and into August 18, rioters left the Robloxia Corporation building, believing that they have succeeded in collapsing the fascist regime.
Many Robloxians; mostly federal government employees were badly injured, with some having broken bones and resulted in the deaths of 192 victims, which nearly all of the causes were from gun violence and slabbing wounds in parts of the body. On August 25, 2028, the Robloxia government ended the shutdown after reverting government websites back to what it was before the shutdown, making this shutdown longer than the incident back in 2021. On November 5, President Roblox, the fascist, was ready to implement the plan, but he was stopped and assassinated by David, which he was also killed by police officers, who had found out that what he did was a terrorist attack and assassinated him. Prior to his death, he requested that police officers lighten his punishment, stating that "it was for the community". The 2028 presidential election was held by anonymous government individuals in which Builderman won 538 electoral votes, mainly caused by police officers and citizens supporting him. Just two days later, Builderman became the next president of United States of Roblox and as his first executive order, repealed all legislation passed on 2017-2028, effectively bringing back the Robloxian constitution way before all the laws complicated it and made it hard for anti-Roblox parties to win. He also posthumously pardoned David, stating that "he is the community".
The attack itself received Roblox-wide mass-media, as news channels from all around Roblox were covering it live. While it is unanimous for its breaking status, historians could not tell if this was considered resistance to the plan or was a terrorist attack itself. The former is what David believed, and many historians agree. However, the latter is what President Roblox and the police believed. From the event, Robloxia's GDP suffered from a loss of 400 billion ROBUX that had been completely erased on January 21, 2029. Despite the nominal loss in GDP, this was considered to be the worst terrorist attack after December 2023 and was the deadliest raid in recorded history.
Background and overview
During the early stages of preparations for the 2028 Federal Government election which would occur in that year, former Robloxia President Roblox announced on June 2, 2028 that Robloxians will have to become slenders by November 6, 2028, or risk deportation.
Within hours of the announcement being made, the Robloxia government, including Roblox himself, started to get universal backlash from the citizens of Robloxia and different Roblox leaders, across the entire planet. The idea was criticized for being the worst and most-hated idea conceived in Robloxian presidential history, while fans of slenders, including supporters of Roblox praised the proposal. Starting in early-July, riots would begin to take shape. The first riots began in Brookhaven, where around 10,000 Robloxians marched across the entire city, demanding that the mandate be removed; in response to the riots, Robloxia President Roblox posted a video at 2:46 p.m. on July 10, 2028, describing how this plan would support Roblox. In the video, President Roblox describes it as "a Robloxian interview". It was criticized by Robloxians as they noted that each of the interviewees had one thing in common: they loved slenders and/or voted for President Roblox in past election years, such as 2020 or 2024, thus giving a undue bias towards President Roblox and revealing that the real purpose of the video was propaganda.
As more riots started to occur in Robloxia, reports of rioters breaking into government buildings in Brookhaven were heavily seen on the news, usually resulting in massive property damage. In one of President Roblox's executive orders that was issued in late July, he stated that all non-essential government buildings will be closed to tourism until the rioters pay for the massive property damage. President Roblox said that the federal government employees will not pay for the massive property damage as this was "not their fault". Before and after the attack, prior to his assassination, Roblox had made ninety-five statements, most of them being variants of Robloxians becoming slenders by November 6, 2028.
Planning of attacking and funding
With the 2028 Robloxia Presidential Election scheduled to be held in late-October to early-November and President Roblox setting the date that all Robloxians should become slenders on November 6th, Robloxians started to prepare major plans for a surprise attack on the Robloxia Corporation. To avoid getting caught on social media (which is heavily monitored by Robloxia federal government), which would render Roblox aware of the situation and take action to prevent it, a secret group started a fandom on Basecamp. The group's leader, David Boris. Jr, expressed extreme anger and criticism towards Robloxia, calling out their idea as the "worst one" in Robloxian presidential history before he felt pressured by the Robloxian government to delete his Roblox account and never come back as a regular user, but rather to be as an undercover account on the website and Basecamp as well. He was best-known to have Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED).
On August 2, when initial voting on the Robloxia Congress began, David, as an undercover user posing as a federal government employee, announced the plan on Basecamp. He then used it to post: "August 17! Be prepared." Throughout the days that came, the fandom eventually started to go viral, as 5,000 Robloxians were interested on the event and formulated plans for the yet-upcoming attack, which everyone agreed would use dangerous levels of violence. Blox-Twitter also had tweets promoting the attack as well, with users promoting it giving everyone victimized "death targets", which later resulted in the users being temporarily suspended for 24 hours in Blox-Twitter. During the time the plan was set, larger social media platforms were used to plan the attack, usually resulting in the users being suspended or banned from those platforms. Blox-Twitter and Bloxtok were used the most. Those bans resulted in users to instead hide their plan somewhere, mainly on Fandom. Later on August 2, a community was started on Odoo Business Software and was named as "SlendersRiots". David, seeing this, posted a link to that wiki at 1:26 p.m. RST on August 3, and as a result, the wiki start to explode in popularly.
On August 4th, a website would be made under the cover of "Roblox's new government maintenance website". It would read the following:
Chatting groups were developed and considered to be part of a community. On July 29, all chatting groups unified into one big group called "The Bad Guys". On August 3, David began a fundraiser on GoFundMe. As GoFundMe prohibited using the software for promoting terrorist attacks (per its Terms of Use), he pretended that his mother just passed away and asked for R$4M to pay for the funeral plans. In reality, his mother was still alive, and this was all just a mere part of David's plan to fund money for the campaign and the riots as well. At first, 50 Robloxians are willing to donate to him R$80,000, making him accomplish his goal, but for some reason, he felt that with R$4M, he could only lobby about the cause, something Roblox prohibited. He then decided to post the link on the wiki, where it received much more attention and caused him to exceed his target. By August 6, 2028, nearly R$12M dollars were donated to the cause alone, with the average donation now R$2,000-R$6,000. Around that time, a new way to raise money came from hand-made posters and signs. Those sold for R$4,000 each.
On August 7, 2028, David, alongside few other people posted a tweet, explaining to the public that the raid will be "fully peaceful", including "no fights, no violence and no deaths" and that they are only doing it for Roblox to change the plan. On the same day, an announcement for a planned-pleasant rally were officially declared. Despite all of that, politicians and a couple of well-known Robloxians were still in distress, mainly from past tweets. In early-August, one member of a large group, that was going to be involved in the attack created a map and posted it on Blox-Twitter, showcasing the surrounding land with targeted buildings in red and the rioters in blue. From August 2-14, 2028 - just days before the raid, numerous weapons; mostly guns or bombs were reported to be purchased, while in districts where guns and bombs could not be purchased without permission, they were stolen instead. Throughout the first half of mid-August, David organized several buses, full of supporters to travel to Brookhaven. On August 15, David hosted a meeting near a building in Robloxia Corporation.
Preparation
Just days away from the planned-attack, law enforcement officers started to prepared significantly for the event, even if the rally was going to be "peaceful". On August 13, President Roblox ordered all officers to be at the front gate of the building and to attack someone if they were trying to break in or harmed them. Due to the potential number of Robloxians being around 5,000, with some estimates calling for 10,000, and the fact that many Robloxians were already near the Robloxia Corporation building by August 15, they decided to close the building to everyone but federal government employees. The closing of the building to outsiders failed to quell the upcoming insurrection, and the numbers kept on rising.
On August 11, the Robloxia Corporation requested that all officers should be at the site.
Events
Before the rallies
On August 14 and 15, a estimated 1,000 protesters arrived in Downtown Brookhaven and were seen by Robloxians to hold flags, signs, large black bags in their hands, bats, "death ropes" and others, with some even completely wearing masks or covering their whole body in black, to not get caught by officers or anyone else. During the night, rather than finding a place to sleep in, they instead focused on sleeping on the streets in front of the Robloxia Corporation. By the afternoon of August 16, around 10,000 protesters were located and spotted near the Robloxia Corporation. Most of the protesters had dangerous and harmful weapons and had come via trains, planes, and cars.
On August 16, the "Slender Are Bad" rallies were started to get prepared and also organized by "The Bad Guys" and David himself for the event tomorrow. It was set to have around 2,000 rioters on the streets, calling out for President Roblox's idea, eventually rioting the building if demands are not met. On the same day as well, several major protests were beginning to form together and were also getting ready for the attack, including one community, named as "Stop President Roblox!" and an another one, called as "Slenders Suck". According to a recent poll by RBC News on March 30, 2034, most of the protesters and attackers came from Robloxia, while around 40% of the rioters were from other countries.
August 17 protests
Beginning at around 5:00am on the early-morning of August 17, the "Stop President Roblox!" and "Slender Are Bad", repeated in Bloxish by some protesters as ("¡Detenga al presidente Roblox!" Y "Los delgados son malos") rallies took place just four miles northwest of the Robloxia Corporation. The first of which began at a local park in Uptown Brookhaven, where there, nearly one-thousand protesters were seen holding signs and flags only, featuring the sentences "Our President SUCKS!", sitting down on benches or walking in the streets; most of whom chanted very loudly. In other venues, speeches that took on a filibuster-like tone and were devoted solely to denouncing the President were held. Speakers each spoke for a maximum of one hour and a minimum of thirty minutes. David Boris Jr. was one of the speakers who was renowned and praised for his rhetoric which conveyed and appealed to many Robloxians as it took on a nationalistic tone.
At this point in time, supporters of David started to move slowly to the city's park as David, alongside a few other members, was scheduled to give a speech there. One of the featured-speakers was John. G. D, who was described heavily as a "go-to-luck guy", admired slenders and admitted that he loved slenders in his three-minute-long message at around 6:45am, in front of now-nearly one and a half thousand people on the site. However, later, he revealed that his later admiration was to fool the government employees, who were bystanders, and his admiration was sarcastic. He ended with the phrase: "It now about time we kick their stupid butts and stop this!".
After the speech, one supporter of David came up to him and asked something about the upcoming raid of the building; in response, he said that it is "possible we can start now". Later on, the protests mostly expand to the westside corner of South 48th Street/7 Avenue, in order for other people to not overflow the entire area. Representative Thomas. G. B gave his message at 6:59 a.m. to the crowd, just before 7am in the middle of a road that was heading in the direction of the building, mainly criticizing President Roblox's plans and saying , "This is the reason why we even here in the first place! Because of his unintelligent plan!" in an angry tone to mass-applauses from the protesters with some yelling and screaming, "Yeah!". Plus at the very end, once finishing his message and was leaving the stage by taking the stairs down, he quietly said, "Go to hell, Roblox". On the Uptown area of Brookhaven, a large crowd of rioters gathered there to chant, "Slenders are lazy!".
At 7:32 a.m., David arrived via local bus and gave his speech to the public, where he first explained on the history of the idea, before yelling at President Roblox for creating the plan, saying that "it was a dumb move". During his message, he said, "We have come here for Revenge on not our city, but our country!" and at the end at 7:58 p.m., "If only you listen to us! Then, none of this were have happened!". According to supporters, he called out for "mass-violence" and asked for them to hack the government". Prior to his arrival, he was rumored and spotted by someone to be attacking a child, who was not a fan of slenders. However, this was revealed to be false as David said, "there were no sources or heck, even a video of me!".
Attack
Before and during the early-morning on August 17, David laboriously called out on his supporters to start marching to the Robloxia Corporation on North 4th Street. Lasting for nearly four whole hours from 8:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., protesters would scream, "Go [BEEP] yourself, Roblox!" and other rude and mean words, as they marched toward the Federal Government.
According to an interviewer, around 4,000 "rioters" were armed with dangerous weapons, mostly having guns, which were originally thought by President Roblox to be objects that "will be used to break through our infrastructural glass".
Siege
Several demonstrators and an estimated 100 rioters managed to access the south perimeter of the Roblox community for the first time just before 12:00 p.m., but they were confronted by police officers and barriers that prevented them from entering. One of the demonstrators, who was quite upset by this, proceeded to try to force through the barrier in order to get entry, but he was ultimately restrained by officer Lay G. Mike and two other people. All of the protestors launched their assault as they watched this occur, with the majority of them beginning to push the barriers and security personnel as they had the throng in front of them. The officers were nearly killed by vicious beatings and theft of their firearms before the rioters tore down the gates.
With their weapons drawn, the demonstrators rushed the front door of the Robloxia Corporation as soon as they were all on the property. One of the demonstrators then noticed another individual fleeing in a different direction while holding three homemade explosive devices in his hands. He was perplexed, so he disregarded him and continued toward the building without turning around to look at the figure. The suspect was caught on tape at 12:04 p.m. strolling carefully to a water fountain, laying the first bomb there, then getting back up and escaping while wearing a mask over his face, Burberry shoes, and long gray slacks. He detonated two more bombs at 12:06 and 12:12 respectively.
A sizable gathering of demonstrators assembled in front of a second entrance on the other side of the building, which was likewise barred by fencing and a squad of policemen. Nearly all of the rioters broke through the gates and raced towards them after one of the bad men sprinted and slammed into a barrier, drawing the attention of hundreds of onlookers. Tear gas, also known as lachrymator agent, was used by many police officers to harm the demonstrators' eyes. They were successful in their efforts, but one of the bad people utilizing the device on the police accidentally tear gassed them. Now equipped and prepared, the rioters entered the area and began hitting the cops with baseball bats, focusing their attacks particularly on their weaker body parts.
Realizing the difficult situation now occurring at the front gates of the building, President Roblox ordered and-
