On June 4, 1781 and on June 5, 1781, the Great 1781 New Island City Fire raged in eastern New Island City after being the direct consequence of a store in the area exploding. Initially, incredibly strong winds fanned the fire north and south, causing the fire to grow at an exponential rate. By the morning of June 4, 1781, the eastern half of New Island City was evacuated. Accordingly, all schools and businesses were closed in the eastern half. By 10AM (Telamon Sea Time), the fire had burned the eastern half of New Island City and was about to burn the western half. However, the fire's westward expansion was quickly stopped after a hot lump of coal was uplifted from a stockpile of coal by incredibly strong winds blowing due west to the western half of the city, causing a second fire to ignite and start when fire fighters in the New Island City Fire Department doused the coal in extinguishing agent, cooling the coal quickly and completely and eliminating the possibility of the fire reigniting. The fire was then extinguished using typical extinguishment procedures, with the fire ending at midnight, June 6, 1781. Damages at the city reached R$1.28 billion as it destroyed and burned homes and killed hundreds of Robloxians in the aftermath. The eastern half of the city was closed until July 31 later that year. However, three-quarters of the eastern half were re-opened by June 11. Overall, Robloxians interviewed in the western half of New Island City said that 2,000 Robloxians in those two days alone were planning to visit Robloxians in the eastern half of the city.
