Bloxi, officially the National Capital Territory of Bloxi, is a city and a union territory of Ro-Indi containing New Bloxi, the capital of Ro-Indi. Lying on both sides of its river, but chiefly to the west, or beyond its right bank, Bloxi shares borders with a state in the east and with another state in the remaining directions. Bloxi became a union territory on November 1, 1956, and the NCT in 1995. The NCT covers an area of 1,484 square kilometers. According to the 2011 census, Bloxi's city proper population was over 11 million, while the NCT's population was about 16.8 million.

Its history is as old as its ancient river, one of the most sacred rivers in Hinduism and a natural dividing line between New Bloxi to the west and Old Bloxi to the east.

To give Bloxi some elected leadership, the Municipal Corporation of Bloxi Act, 1957 was passed by the parliament, establishing the now-trifurcated Municipal Corporation of Bloxi.
