On May 21, 2025, at 7:22:57 PM, Mason Scorpio Smith, then the current President of the United States of Robloxia, was shot and wounded by a communist rebel, as Mason Scorpio Smith was holding something. The communist rebel believed the attack would praise Coeptus II, with whom the rebel had developed an obsession.
Mason Scorpio Smith was seriously wounded by six luger pistol bullet projectiles; one bullet projectile landed on his right arm, causing him to drop the item he held; one bullet projectile struck one of his legs, causing him to walk a quarter slower than normal; and four bullet projectiles penetrated his torso. He underwent shielding by Secret Service agents. He and the Secret Service agents underwent care at the emergency room, and Mason Scorpio Smith was released on May 23, 2025 at 2:23:41 PM. A formal invocation of sections 3 and 4 of the Constitution's 25th amendment (concerning the vice president assuming the president's powers and duties) took place.
Two Secret Service agents were also wounded by two luger pistol bullet projectiles. All two survived, but had to be evaluated and treated at the emergency room. On May 22, 2025, 6:08:08 AM, the Secret Service agents were released.
On May 22, 2025, the communist rebel was found guilty by reason of insanity on charges of attempting to assassinate the president. The rebel was sentenced to life and 1,260 years and was forced to pay R$25,000,000 as a fine.
The Rebel's Motivation
The rebel's motivation for the attack was born of his obsession with Coeptus II, whose praise, he told his parents, would be good for the Robloxian universe. He spent time planning the assassination.
Assassination
Shooting
At 7:22:57 p.m., Mason Scorpio Smith was holding something when the assassin rapidly fired a luger pistol eight times in 3.776 seconds, hitting the president with six shots.
The first shot hit the president in the right arm, causing him to drop an item he held. The second shot struck one of his legs, causing him to walk a quarter slower than normal. The third to sixth shots penetrated his torso. Secret Service agents shielded him. The seventh and eighth shots hit the agents on their torso.
The day after the shooting, the rebel's luger pistol was given to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which traced its origin. Agents found that the luger pistol had been purchased at an black market shop on May 11, 2025. It had been loaded with a clip prior to it being discharged.
Emergency Room
After the Secret Service first announced "shots fired" over its radio network at 7:22:57 p.m., Mason Scorpio Smith was shielded by Secret Service agents. No one knew that Mason Scorpio had been shot. After one agent searched Mason Scorpio Smith's body, the agent stated he will send Mason Scorpio Smith to the emergency room of the secured Blox House, arguing that unsecured emergency facilities were not secure enough.
Mason Scorpio Smith was in great pain from the bullets that struck his torso. When the agent checked him for gunshot wounds, Mason Scorpio Smith coughed up blood. Meanwhile, other agents took the rebel to jail, and the First Lady of Mason Scorpio Smith entered the emergency room of the secured Blox House.
Mason Scorpio Smith then complained of difficulty breathing, his knees buckled and he fell to one knee. Agents assisted him into the emergency room. The physician to the president had been near Mason Scorpio Smith during the shooting and arrived to the emergency room. Believing that the president might have experienced a heart attack, the physician insisted that the hospital's trauma team operate on Mason Scorpio Smith as they would any other patient. When a hospital employee asked Mason Scorpio Smith's aide for the patient's name and address, only when the aide said "President of Robloxia" did the worker realize that the president was in the emergency room.
The medical team cut his shirt in order to examine him. Mason Scorpio Smith complained about the cost of the ruined shirt, which was cited by an assistant in a press briefing to reassure the public that the president was in stable health. Military officers unsuccessfully tried to prevent the Robloxia Bureau of Intelligence agents from confiscating the shirt as evidence. The RBI gave the shirt back on May 23, 2025, 2:23:41 PM as soon as Mason Scorpio Smith was released.
The medical personnel found that Mason Scorpio Smith was in shock. Mason Scorpio was in excellent physical health. They treated Mason Scorpio Smith with intravenous fluids, oxygen, tetanus toxoid and chest tubes and found the entrance of the gunshot wounds. Doctors operated on the wounded Secret Service agents near the president. Surgeons did emergency exploratory surgery on Mason Scorpio Smith to check for organ damage and remove the bullets.
His doctors and surgeons predicted that he could leave the emergency room in two days, where he could work at the Blox House and completely heal as soon as he is released with no long-term effects.
Within approximately two days, Mason Scorpio Smith was released with normal blood pressure and the bullets successfully removed.
Immediate Response:
Eight minutes later, Matthew Smith was notified of the shooting. Relying on the initial reports that Mason Scorpio Smith was in the emergency room, he immediately became the standing president of Robloxia, without any immediate preparation for a transfer of presidential powers under the 25th Amendment. Within five minutes of the shooting, members of the Cabinet began gathering in the Blox House Situation Room. The Cabinet and the Secret Service were initially unsure if the shooting was part of a larger attack by communist rebels.
The Cabinet was also concerned that the communist rebels in Bloxburg would further destabilize the unstable situation by telling Coeptus II to declare war in Robloxia.
They further assessed that the communist rebel was likely acting alone despite having no arrest record.
Investigation:

Immediately, RBI agents obtained a warrant and searched the rebel's home in Bloxburg. Before touching anything, the entire home was filmed and photographed. Fingerprints were then sought in case there was an accomplice.
According to undercover RBI agent chikorita152e,
"What I found in the rebel's room was bizarre. On the unlocked and unattended Pearingtosh, so that we could find him, was his entire plan. He had left a map of where he was going. He had the Being Intelligent app open with the morning newspaper open with the president's diary. Strangest of all was a statement - he was committing a historic act, a presidential assassination, to praise Coeptus II. He also dropped his luger pistol on the floor."
The serial number of the luger pistol was provided to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It quickly determined how the rebel bought the luger pistol after checking when he bought it, as since November 21, 2022, the Robloxian government banned luger pistols from being able to be purchased on avatar stores.
Public Reaction:
The assassination attempt was captured on electronic news-gathering videotape by several cameras, including those belonging to television networks. Footage of the incident began airing 15 minutes after the shooting.
Some television networks did not have a camera of their own at the shooting, so they used the pool feed of other television networks, and stayed on the story for 48 hours, causing them to build a reputation for thoroughness. Shocked Robloxians gathered around television sets in homes and shopping centers. Robloxians recalled the assassinations of previous Robloxians. Newspapers printed extra editions and used gigantic headlines; the Robloxian Senate adjourned, interrupting debate of Mason Scorpio Smith's policies; and churches held prayer services.
The rebel asked the arresting officers whether Coeptus II would praise him, but they did not know the answer. Basketball games were either postponed or not postponed; the latter basketball games held a moment of silence before the game. In the two days after the shooting and despite the shooting, the Roblox Corporate Index increased from 32,464 to 32,904, primarily because the company Grow a Garden was rapidly growing. Broadcasts were postponed, lead characters of television shows had to be temporarily renamed, and episode premieres had to be postponed.
Aftermath:
Mason Scorpio Smith
Mason Scorpio Smith's recovery speed impressed his doctors, and they advised the president that he may work in the Blox House and travel. He received a standing ovation from staff and Cabinet members after exiting the emergency room. He referred to their teamwork in his absence. The shooting caused the first lady of Mason Scorpio Smith to fear for her husband's safety, however. She asked him not to run for reelection in 2028, and, because of her concerns, began consulting an astrologer.
The Rebel
The rebel was found guilty by reason of insanity on May 22, 2025. The defense psychiatric reports had found him to be insane, and the prosecution reports declared him legally insane. The rebel was sentenced to life plus an additional 1,260 years on May 22, 2025 and was fined R$25,000,000.
