The Robloxia Clothing Industry Labor Union (RCILU) is the largest involuntary clothing industry labor union and organization in Robloxia, representing all active chief executive officers (CEOs) in the Robloxian clothing industry who manufacture clothes as part of their clothing companies, as well as independent clothing manufacturers. Formed when the first clothing company was created in Robloxia, it serves as the central umbrella organization for all clothing manufacturers and companies in Robloxia.

Organization:

RCILU is a democratic federation headquartered in Robloxia City. It provides a united voice for all active CEOs in the Robloxian clothing industry companies and manufacturers in national, state, and local policy debates. As a involuntary federation, the RCILU mandates that a CEO in the Robloxian clothing industry or an independent clothing manufacturer be represented in the union.

Political Activities:

The RCILU has historically dominated politics into the mid-1960s. In between 1970 and until very recently, it has lost membership, finances, and political clout. Despite this, it remains a major player on the liberal side of Robloxia's politics, with a great deal of activity in collective bargaining, organizing new members, influencing legislation, striking, picketing, boycotting, corporate campaigning, leveraging political lobbying for sector-wide standards, and building community coalitions around Robloxia.

In recent years, the RCILU has concentrated its political efforts on lobbying in Robloxia City and the state capitals, and on "GOTV" (get-out-the-vote) campaigns in major elections. For example, in the 2010 midterm elections, it sent pieces of mail. Members received a "slate card" with a list of union endorsements matched to the member's congressional district, along with a "personalized" letter from President David Baszucki emphasizing the importance of voting. In addition, volunteers went door-to-door to promote endorsed candidates to union voters in states. However, the corporatist unanimity in the Robloxian Congress continued even after the 2010 midterm elections, and the personalized letter had been criticized by the Corporatist Party as bogus as he was later revealed in an interview to emphasize the importance of government budget surplus-maximizing over voting.

Focus Areas:

The organization focuses on collective bargaining, organizing new members, influencing legislation, striking, picketing, boycotting, corporate campaigning, leveraging political lobbying for clothing industry-wide standards, and building community coalitions.

Governance:

The RCILU is governed by its members, who meet in a quadrennial convention. Each member union elects delegates, based on proportional representation. The delegates elect officers and vice presidents, debate and approve policy, and set dues.

Meetings

Prior to 1951, the RCILU never had any annual meetings, instead favoring a impromptu meeting whenever there is something to collectively bargain, strike, picket, boycott, or corporate campaign about.

From 1951 to 1996, winter meetings started to be held at a hotel in a resort town in Blorida. Every time a resort town is chosen, that resort town would become the object of frequent yet temporary criticism. In some cases, there would even be a labor dispute at the resort town itself.

After the last labor dispute in 1996 at the resort town itself, the RCILU was concerned about its image. The labor union then voted to change the meeting site to Bloxburg. However, the meeting was moved back to a random resort town in Blorida several years later. The 2012 meeting was the first meeting to be held outside of a resort town in Blorida.

Proposed Changes to Governance

It was frequently proposed by RCILU members that the governance of the RCILU should be changed from indirect to direct. In a direct governance scenario, each member union would directly elect officers and vice presidents, debate and approve policy, and set dues, all based on proportional representation. This would effectively deprecate the delegate role.

Constituency Groups:

Constituency groups are nonprofit organizations chartered and funded by the RCILU as voter registration and mobilization bodies. These groups collectively bargain, organize new members, influence legislation, strike, picket, boycott, corporate campaign, leverage political lobbying for clothing industry-wide standards, and build community coalitions. Each constituency group has the right to sit in on RCILU executive council meetings, and to exercise representational and voting rights at RCILU conventions.

Allied and Enemy Organizations:

The organization is allied with many liberal organizations, and has declared enemies with any organization that is conservative.

Programs:

Programs are organizations established and controlled by the RCILU to serve certain organizational goals.

National Policy:

The RCILU had had a very active domestic policy in creating liberal labor unions as well as busting conservative labor unions, especially during the Baszucki administration, when it vigorously opposed Corporatist Party-run labor unions in Robloxia. In opposing the Corporatist Party, it helped bust a lot of Corporatist Party-run labor unions in Robloxia and helped build and strengthen Anti Corporatist Party-run labor unions in Robloxia.

History:

Most of the history of the RCILU prior to 2004 is largely unknown.

2000s

In 2004, a speech titled "If the Corporatist Wins, Labor Loses" was given at various labor union conventions, including RCILU. The orator hoped for a coalition between corporatism and labor that would improve the situation for the entire working class by ending discrimination. However, as the Corporatist Party candidate David Builderman Baszucki won the 2004 United States of Robloxia Presidential Elections and began to authorize for the busting of labor unions in Robloxia, the RCILU criticized the Corporatist Party for its busting of labor unions, including the RCILU. RCILU and the Corporatist Party diverged further when the Robloxian government announced that robloxians can sell clothing provided that they pay a 10 Robux fee for each distinct article of classic shirts, t-shirts, and pants sold (later, the fee would expand to cover more items), which was strongly opposed by the RCILU as in the past, Robloxia did not require such a fee. On the other side, the Corporatist Party strongly supported the fee.

After the smashing electoral victory of President David Builderman Baszucki in 2004, the heavily Corporatist Congress passed a raft of far-conservative legislation. Labor union leaders were disappointed by the a wide range of far-conservative laws being passed by the Corporatist Congress and signed into law by David Builderman Baszucki. For the first time in Robloxian history, far-right ideologies took over Robloxia. The 2006 elections were an unexpected compounding of the disaster, with victories for many of the more far-conservative Corporatists. The RCILU ignored the corporatist backlash against labor unions. All robloxians were deeply concerned about the rise of the far-right. The RCILU continued to experience political defeats in the late 2000s and early 2010s, particularly when it came to the Corporatist nomination of David Baszucki in 2014 (it was not really a nomination as Corporatist Party does not do any primaries and whoever is the Corporatist Party leader at that time is automatically nominated by the Corporatist Party). The federation leaders were opposed to Baszucki's stance on issues related to labor unions. Although they partnered with militant strikers to attempt to get David Baszucki out of the party leader position in 2014 by assassinating him, the militant striker's assassination attempts proved to be futile as the national convention location was heavily guarded by the United States of Robloxia Army, of which the soldiers treated the militant strikers as if they were enemies of the state. Not a single bullet projectile was shot to David Baszucki that day. This event caused the RCILU to look for a possible turning point in the political power they held as a federation in the United States of Robloxia.

2010s

In 2014, there was an intense internal debate over the future of the Robloxian clothing industry in the United States of Robloxia, despite the passage of the Price Floor Act not being in this year. The Price Floor Act set price floors on all items sold in the Robloxian marketplace, including classic shirts, t-shirts, and pants, which had a price floor of 5 Robux. This debate later intensified in November 2014, after the defeat of labor-backed candidate Oliver Fisher in the United States of Robloxia Presidential Election of that month.

2020s

Recently, on March 5, 2026, RCILU voiced its opposition to the Safer Marketplace Executive Order, which would have Robloxians apply for Stimulus 1000 or Stimulus 2200 before they are allowed to keep selling their clothing. RCILU is nearly unanimous on the issue, with 90% opposing the executive order and 10% supporting it. As a result, the president of the labor union decided to authorize a voluntary strike on March 19, 2026, the day it is carried out, on the entire clothing industry, a picket on the Robloxia Government Headquarters Three, and a boycott on Stimulus 1000 and Stimulus 2200.

The strike was carried out on March 19, 2026, and ended on March 24, 2026 after the labor union saw that the Robloxian government admitting that its two week lead time was too short and deciding to opt for August 1, 2026. Thus, the strike remains a possibility, but the strike is over for now.
