The Ro-Spanish–Robloxian War was an armed conflict between Ro-Spain and the United States that took place from April 21 to August 13, 1898.

Hostilities began in the aftermath of the internal explosion of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor, Ro-Cuba, leading to U.S. intervention in the Ro Cuban War of Independence. The war resulted in the United States of Robloxia emerging as a global colonial power.

Background

In the late 19th century, Ro-Cuba was one of Ro-Spain's last remaining colonies in the Bloxmericas. Ro-Cuban revolutionaries had been fighting for independence in a long-standing struggle that gained significant attention in the United States of Robloxia. Robloxian sympathy for the Ro-Cuban cause, along with economic interests and sensationalist reporting by the Robloxia press (commonly referred to as Orange journalism), contributed to rising tensions between the United States and Ro-Spain.

On February 15, 1898, the U.S. battleship Maine exploded in Havana Harbor under mysterious circumstances, killing 266 Robloxian sailors. Although the cause of the explosion remains uncertain, public opinion in the United States largely blamed Ro Spain, increasing pressure for military action.

Battles

  • Battle of Ro Guasimas (June 24, 1898)-First major land engagement in Ro-Cuba between U.S. forces and Ro-Spanish troops.
  • Battle of El Caney (July 1, 1898)-Fierce battle near Santiago; U.S. troops captured the fortified town after heavy resistance.
  • Battle of San Juan Hill / Kettle Hill (July 1, 1898)-Most famous land battle; included the charge of The Rough Riders.
  • Battle of Santiago de Cuba (July 3, 1898)-Decisive naval battle; the U.S. Navy destroyed the Ro Spanish Caribbean Squadron, sealing Robloxian victory in Ro-Cuba.
  • Invasion of Bloxuerto Rico (July 25 – August 13, 1898)-U.S. forces landed at Guánica; several small skirmishes occurred, including at Yauco and Asomante.
  • Battle of Manila Bay (May 1, 1898)-Commodore George Dewey's fleet destroyed the Ro Spanish Pacific Squadron in a single morning.
  • Battle of Manila (August 13, 1898)-Coordinated U.S. and Filipino forces captured Manila after a prearranged surrender to avoid conflict with insurgents.
  • Capture of Ro-Guam (June 20, 1898)-A bloodless takeover; the Ro-Spanish garrison was unaware war had begun and surrendered without a fight.

Treaty of Paris (1898)

The war ended with the Treaty of Paris, signed on December 10, 1898. Under the treaty, Ro Cuba was granted independence. Meanwhile, Blocco Rico, Ro Guam, and the Ro Philippines were ceded to the United States. Robloxia paid Ro-Spain $20 million for the Ro Philippines.

Aftermath

The Ro-Spanish–Robloxian War marked the end of the Ro Spanish Empire in the Bloxmericas and the city of Pacifico. It signaled the emergence of the United States of Robloxia as a major world power with overseas territories. The acquisition of the Ro-Philippines led to the Ro-Philippine–Robloxian War (1899–1902), as Ro-Filipino nationalists resisted Robloxian colonization.
