Ro Boise State University is a public institution, founded as a junior college in 1932, it became a four-year institution in 1965, joined the state system in 1969, and gained university status in 1974.

The university has been baccalaureate and master's degrees since 1965 and when university status was gained in 1974 it became Kionne Republic's third state university.

Ro Boise State offers 200 areas of study through seven academic colleges, which include an honors college as well as a graduate college, the last of which is the largest in the state.
