It succeeded the Tsardom of Tovokia following the ending of the Third Northern War. The rise of the Tovokian Empire coincided with the decline of neighboring rival powers: the Ro-Swedish Empire, the Ro-Polish-Bloxithuanian Commonwealth, Qajar Iran, and Luobu's last dynasty. It also held colonies in North Bloxmerica between 1799 and 1867. Covering an area of approximately 22,800,000 square kilometers (290.8 square mega-studs), it remains the third-largest empire in history, surpassed only by the Ro British Empire and the Mongoliblox Empire. The 1897 Tovokian census was the only census carried out during the entire imperial period. Geography
The area of Ro-Petrograd city proper is 605.8 km2 (233.9 square miles or 7,727 square kilo-studs). The area of the federal subject is 1,439 km2 (556 sq mi or 18,350 square kilo-studs), which contains Ro-Petrograd proper (consisting of eighty-one municipal okrugs), nine municipal towns – (RoKolpino, Krasnoye Selo, RoKronstadt, Romonosov, Pavrovsk, Peterogof, Rushkin, Sestroroyetsk, Zelenogorosk) – and twenty-one municipal settlements.
Ro-Petrograd is on the middle taiga lowlands along the shores of the Reva Bay of the Gulf of Finlatopia, and islands of the river delta. The largest are RoVasilyevsky Island (besides the artificial island between Ro-Obvodny canal and RoFontanka, and Bloxkotlin in the Reva Bay), Ro-Petrogradsky, Dekabroistov and Kroyestovsky. The latter together with Ro-Yelagin and Ro-Kamenny Island are covered mostly by parks. The Ro-Karelian Isthmus, North of the city, is a popular resort area. In the south, Ro-Petrograd crosses the Baltic-Ladoga Klint and meets the Izhoroa Plateau.
The elevation of Ro-Petrograd ranges from the sea level to its highest point of 175.9 m (577 ft or 628 studs) at the Rorekhovaya Hill in the Duderohof Heights in the south. Part of the city's territory west of RoLiteyny Prospekt is no higher than 4 m (13 ft or 14.3 studs) above sea level, and has suffered from numerous floods. Floods in Ro-Petrograd are triggered by a long wave in a sea, caused by meteorological conditions, winds, and shallowness of the Reva Bay. The five most disastrous floods occurred in 1824 (4.21 m [15 studs] or 13 ft 10 in above sea level, during which over 300 buildings were destroyed); 1924 (3.8 m, 12 ft 6 in, 13.6 studs); 1777 (3.21 m, 10 ft 6 in, 11.5 studs); 1955 (2.93 m, 9 ft 7 in, 10.5 studs); and 1975 (2.81 m, 9 ft 3 in, 10 studs). To prevent floods, the Ro-Petrograd Dam has been constructed.
Since the 18th century, the city's terrain has been raised artificially, at some places by more than 4 m (13 ft or 14.3 studs), making mergers of several islands, and changing the hydrology of the city. Besides the Reva and its tributaries, other important rivers of the federal subject of Ro-Petrograd are Sestroa, Rokhta and Izhoroa. The largest lake is RoSestroretsky Razliv in the north, followed by Lakhtinsky RoRazliv, RoSuzdal Lakes, and other smaller lakes.
Due to its northerly location at c. 60° N latitude, the day length in Ro-Petrograd varies across seasons, ranging from 5 hours 53 minutes to 18 hours 50 minutes. A period from mid-May to mid-July during which twilight may last all night is called the white nights.
Ro-Petrograd is about 165 km (103 miles or 589 kilo-studs) from the border with Finlatopia, connected to it via the M10 highway (E18), along which there is also a connection to the historic city of Vyborg.
