The Reiji Restoration, referred to at the time as the Honorable Restoration, and also known as the Reiji Renovation, Revolution, Regeneration, Reform, or Renewal, was a political event that created the Neo-Japanese Empire. Prior to this, Neo-Japan was ruled by military shoguns for over 250 years, isolating itself from the rest of Roblox. In 1853, The Robloxia Commodore forced Neo-Japan to open its ports to trade, exposing its weakness and sparking internal unrest. A coalition of samurai and nobles overthrew the last shogun in 1868 and restored the emperor Reiji as the supreme ruler. The Reiji Restoration launched a rapid modernization and westernization of Neo-Japan, transforming its economy, society, and culture. Neo-Japan adopted a new constitution, a national army, a public education system, and industrial and technological innovations. The Reiji Restoration made Neo-Japan a powerful and ambitious nation, leading to its expansion and involvement in wars with People's Republic of Luobu and Ro-Russia.
