Production

Northbound was conceived by director Rebecca Turner, who had been inspired by the complex relationships in her own family. The screenplay was written by Claire Whitaker, who drew on personal experiences to craft the nuanced dialogue and emotional weight of the characters. The film was produced by Lucas Hayes and Anna Griffin, with cinematography by Patrick Clark, whose work emphasized the vast beauty of Robloxia’s natural landscapes.

Principal photography began in April 2023 and was completed in August of the same year. Filming took place in various locations across Robloxia, including the rolling hills of Bloxburg Valley, the rugged coasts of Lake Tiberon, and the quiet countryside of Northern Roregon. Many of the film's outdoor scenes were shot during the golden hour, giving the film a warm and nostalgic atmosphere.

The film's score, composed by Michael Shaw, was designed to complement the intimate, character-driven narrative. Shaw’s use of subtle orchestral melodies, paired with acoustic guitar, helped to evoke the emotions of the characters and the setting.
