The Nakoof Metro (Metrô de Nakoof in Ro-Portuguese, Metrósá Nakouf in Sebelstian) is the rapid transit system serving the city of Nakoof and the surrounding Federal Capital District. It, along with the Nakoof Monorail, Tramway, bus system and water taxi system, form an integrated transportation network under the umbrella of the Capital Transport Agency (Agência de Transporte do Capital). The first line, the North-South Line (also known as Line 1) opened in July 1979, originally over 8.3 kilometers of track between Rentocho and Central, growing to 5 lines and 116.3 kilometers of track.

It is the busiest of the three metro systems located in Sebelsti, after the systems in Port Sebelsti, Sezáuó, and Fanái Nakó. It receives around 810,000 passengers per day. The system connects to the nearby Port Sebelsti Metro at the Baia Sul Station on the East-West (Line 5) line.

History

Planning for a metro system for Nakoof had been in the works since 1937, shortly after Sebelsti gained independence. A plan for multiple tunnels running under the city totaling to seven lines, including a suspended monorail line, however, the government lost funding midway, and only a 1.5 kilometre tunnel was constructed, which is now used as a railway equipment storage area.
