Overview
Madison Research Center (aka. Quantum Science Energy Research Facility) is a facility located near Lake Michiblox, United States of Robloxia led by Quantum Science Inc.
History:
Beginning
Founded in 1964 by James McChartey, it was originally called "Quantum Fixtures" . They were manufacturing lamps.
1964-1972
In 1972, they renamed the company to "Quantum Atomic Energy Corporation" or simply "QAEC" and started to focus away from manufacturing lamps. They later made DMR-01, which was a fission-fusion reactor which infuses dark matter in its cycle.
1972-1974
In 1974, the company added the color blue to its logo
1974-1980
In 1980, the company was renamed to Quantum Science Energy Research Center. It was later rebranded as a facility, and also gained an alternative name known as Madison Research Center.
Reactors:
The Dark Matter Reactor
The Dark Matter Reactor, or internally known as DMR-01, colloquially as "spicy meatball", is the first fission-fusion reactor ever constructed by the facility.
How does it work?
The reactor has a core with a metal superstructure suspended by gravitational lasers (red beams from bottom and top") and Neutron Bombardment Units (aka. "Power Lasers" and rarely "Neutron Lasers", which to the naked robloxian eye appear to resemble blue beams) but are actually beams of neutrons. The neutrons enter the receiver holes of the DMR-01 and get filtered by three fuel vessels, then reach reaction chamber where dark matter and neutrons react together with water to heat water and create steam which goes then to turbines to generate gigawatts of electricity.
Notable Accidents:
The 1985 Accident
In August 1985, The Dark Matter Reactor (DMR-01) experienced a thermal runaway event which led to a meltdown. During the peak of the meltdown, a black hole formed in facility and sucked in the entire facility. With matter entering the black hole at a slow rate since then, the black hole lifetime expired, causing a sudden gamma-ray burst explosion and a localized biospherical collapse. The United States of Robloxia government thought the Tovokian Federation attacked Madison.
Later, the United States of Robloxia government banned the opening of any new fusion-fission reactors until 2000 after the true cause of the explosion was revealed due to threat of future gamma-ray burst explosions on the planet's biosphere. The facility was then quickly rebuilt, but the DMR-01 reconstruction had to be placed on hold until 2000 due to a government-ban.
Foxtrot-9 Reactor
Foxtrot-9 is a pressurized water reactor(PWR)-style reactor. Since Madison Research Center was not able to create any more fusion-fission reactors, it had to resort to creating typical reactors. This typical reactor is intended to serve as a reserve reactor to generate electricity for the research center in the case of a power outage.
