The Little Railroadsia Islands are a small group of volcanic islands off the coast of Bloxartica, owned by Railroadsia, housing a research facility with a population of 218.
History
Discovery and founding (1985)
The Railroadsian research vessel SS Fishbed spotted a newly formed island chain off the coast of Bloxartica about 1.2 kilostuds long. After GPS and a few phone calls confirmed the island (and later spotted nearby islands) were inside international waters and unclaimed, the crew of the SS Fishbed claimed the islands for Railroadsia. A few tents were set up at first, but later removed besides for a flagpole bearing the Railroadsian flag and a plaque stating "WE, THE CREW OF THE SS FISHBED CLAIM THIS ISLAND FOR THE REPUBLIC OF RAILROADSIA IN 1985 AD."
Expeditions and construction of a permanent research center (1985-1991)
After several expeditions to the island over the years, it was decided due to the natural anomalies found there, Railroadsia would build a research station apon the island as well as a small dock to ferry people and researchers from the island to mainland Bloxartica. After a year of construction, the buildings would be completed, and about 58 people would move into the building. This number would later increase due to demand to be used as a ferry stop from Bloxargentina and Bloxartica.
Present (1991-2025)
Not much has happened to the island in recent years, however it has seen exponential growth due to its use seaplane port, allowing smaller aircraft with smaller fuel tanks to refuel there and be able to make the trek to Bloxartica.
