History

In 1833, a mill was constructed on Kenic Creek, and a group of houses for the workers was constructed about half a mile from the mill. The mill caught fire in 1841, but was purchased by another company which rebuilt a larger facility on the same site, which operated until 1922. A mill village was constructed in 1845, and the village was incorporated as Creek Town. It had 320 residents in 1850 and had several large farms as well. Later on, in 1876, when the Trans-Robloxian Railway first opened, the population increased to 739 (1880 Census). In 1884, the first town hall was constructed. Previously, the town council met inside of the church. In 1895, a schoolhouse was constructed, the first in town.

20th Century

Starting in the 20th century, six more mills were constructed within the area using the Kenic Creek for hydropower. Because of this, a proposal was made in 1905 to put a dam on the creek to create a reservoir. It did not happen until 1933, however. In 1907, a telegraph wire was installed to link to the switching station in Newcaster. The cable gave its name to the current day Telegraph Road in the west part of the town. Starting in 1930, many of the mills were shut down due to bankruptcy and the textile industry within the region sharply declined, but was able to make a significant improvement in the early 1940s. The population was 963 in 1950, and increased to 1,600 in 1965.

Modern day

Starting in the late 1990s, the town experienced a shift away from the textile industry and towards agricultural, industrial, and business sectors. In 2003, Bloxco built a large 30,000 square foot distribution center on the site of a former landfill, and in 2013, McTedson Corporation opened a 37,000 square foot facility for manufacturing escalators and elevators, as well as engines for aircraft and watercraft.

In 2017, the town hall, which dated from the year 1928 and was made out of wood was demolished, due to a lack of space. A modular building was placed onsite to provide three additional rooms in 2014. A new modern town hall was constructed from 2017-2018 and opened in April 2018. While it was being constructed, several modular structures were added to make temporary space.

In 2023, a second fire station was constructed, for a cost of 730,000 Robux.

The town hall is located at 535 West Main Street, and opened in 2018.
