The Juguik Guest Colony is a colony of Guests, located outside of the city of Juguik, Bloxjiado. It was formed in 2010, and became the largest concentration of Guests in Roblox after Guests were not allowed in Robloxia. Despite only having a population of 66 Guests, the population of the colony is around 415. Much of the rest of the residents besides the 266 “true” Guests are either half-Guests or “quarter-Guests”. It is located in one of the poorest parts of western Bloxjiado, and is located in a clearing of land that was intended to be used for a future development, but was camped on by Guests who had lost their homes from 2010-2017.
The colony is located around five kilometers (3.11 miles) south of Juguik’s city centre.
History
In 2004, PineWood Aerospace bought an 80 acre plot of land for use as its future Satellite Monitoring Station, which would be used for monitoring its satellites, and relaying data on-site. It was eventually decided to be built in Dahanani, so the land was sold to a developer, who submitted plans to build over seven apartment towers, each being 11 stories tall, plus one 20 story apartment building, but this was later canceled due to a lack of funds and the land eventually was abandoned.
A group of 3 Guests had settled on the land in a group of tents. Eventually, as more Guests had lost their homes, jobs, and citizenships, the population grew to about 24 in 2014.
The Guest Aid Society of Robloxia, in 2016, moved a group of 12 guests from Robloxity, to the camp, and eventually in 2018, the population reached 80, as multiple half-Guests moved to the camp. The GASR, in 2018 constructed 15 duplex buildings (30 units total), and established a waitlist for these units.
Layout
The colony mainly consists of modular housing units, temporary housing, tents, and improvised structures. Some of the buildings were constructed by the GASR, such as the administrative buildings, the clinic and school, as well as several family housing facilities. Because the camp’s development is sporadic, the boundaries of the colony can change over the years based on population. Each family of Guests, upon entering the camp, are assigned a plot of land or a housing unit depending on their circumstances.
Infrastructure
Many of the residents use gasoline generators to power their houses, and even the permanent structures built by the GASR do not have electricity; however generators are distributed throughout the camp.
There is no running tap water in the camp; instead, water is pumped from wells and delivered by truck. The GASR claims that with limited funding and various structures, for the time being it is “impossible to add water mains to the camp.” There are a total of seven wells throughout the camp for drinking and cooking, and all non-drinking water uses (such as washing clothes), are provided by truck.
