The old bridge
Old bridge
- Built in 1933 after Robloxia ordered a new bridge built in the Quad Cities Metro between Bettendorf and Moline. It originally had one span that would open in 1935.
- A second wider span was allowed to be started in 1958 and would be finished in 1959.
- It would be a toll bridge for decades until 1992 when it was decided to remove the toll.
- In 2008 the planning for the new bridge would begin and in 2017 the new bridge would start.
- In 2021 the old bridge would be demolished. It would take two attempts at detonating the bridge due to its strong construction.
The new bridge
- It would open in 2021
- Three months later a modification would be needed after a driver accidentally killed three people on the bicycle path on the side of the bridge.
- The bridge's lights would be used for the first time at the end of the 2021, lighting up red and green for Christmas.
