Hurricane Cathy was a powerful and devastating Category-5 hurricane that caused utter destruction within the then-Century City (now Topia City) and Badimo City areas, which killed 1,629 people, and flooded the downtown area. It costed between R$36 trillion to R$76 trillion in damage, making it by far the costliest and deadliest hurricane in the 2000s. This hurricane is the third major hurricane, fourth hurricane, and fourteenth tropical storm in the 2005 Bloxington hurricane season. With the 3-minute sustained wind speeds of 181 mph (291 km/h) and pressure of 899 mbar, it is the third most powerful hurricane in the 2000s, just behind Reina weeks later on September 2005 and Willy in October 2005.
