Hospital Nightmare (Film Series)

Hospital Nightmare is a Robloxia film series, jointly directed by Adrian928 and ColdDeveloper (formerly called dimond788) in 2011. The series consists of five films. A sixth film and a reboot were in production until both got canceled.

History

The original Hospital Nightmare was directed by adrian928 and ColdDeveloper. Hospital Nightmare 2 was directed by ColdDeveloper, but was released to movie theaters after the most famous of the films, Hospital Nightmare 3. Hospital Nightmare 2 was eventually banned in 2014. Hospital Nightmare 3 was pulled from movie theaters at one point, supposedly due to some Robloxian getting scared by the jumpscares on the movie and getting the Robloxian government involved in the scene, so the jumpscares of the movie were removed for some time. By the time the movie credited to Bloqq was released to movie theaters, the jumpscares had returned. Some versions of the movie remain without jumpscares, or have an expanded last scene (internally known as winners scene by the crew members). Aside from Bloqq's version of Hospital Nightmare 3, other popular versions include Jaredvaldez4's Hospital Nightmare III and Wizard925's Horror Experience: The Hospital Nightmare

The third and most popular in the series, Hospital Nightmare 3 was directed by Adrian928 and released in 2011, weeks before Hospital Nightmare 2's release to movie theaters. It is the most well-known of the series as it was the first to officially be released to movie theaters. It gained a box office quickly and currently has sold 816,000 (official) tickets.

In mid 2012, after the release to movie theaters of Hospital Nightmare 4 and Hospital Nightmare 5, the film studio was hacked and the movie was stolen, complete with a change in the director's name to be released. For a while, this movie was grossing so much that it appeared on the Robloxian government's front page. The Robloxian government was then involved and eventually the movie was pulled, but not before the hacker of the film studio released the movie to the public domain, making it available to the public domain. There are now hundreds of known copies of the film grossing for thousands of tickets. The only official ones are directed by Shwaq, Bryanswaqq, Bloqq and ColdDeveloper (Bryanswaqq, Bloqq and Shwaq being the ALT's of adrian928). Weeks later, Adrian928 was deported (for baiting other Robloxians to watch the movie), and the original version of Hospital Nightmare 3 was pulled from movie theaters.

Before Adrian's deportation, two more Hospital Nightmare films were created, Hospital Nightmare 4 and 5. Both of these films were directed by ColdDeveloper and were credited to Adrian before his deportation. In late 2014, ColdDeveloper decided to give credit to Bloqq, which was an alias of Adrian. This also effectively ended Hospital Nightmare 2 from being aired in movie theaters in Robloxia by voluntary request. The movie, therefore, is presumably lost media until ColdDeveloper either requests movie theaters to air the movie again or gives the movie file to somebody else.

On late 2015, Bloqq and ColdDeveloper announced that the film series will be receiving a reboot under the movie "Hospital Nightmare" with credit given to a new production studio they made named HNM Studios. It was supposed to be released in early 2016 to movie theaters, but the movie was last updated on October 14, 2017, and the reboot was canceled due to Bloqq retiring from film direction.

Jumpscares/Pop-ups

The Hospital Nightmare movies are known for their jumpscares, which are like graphical user interfaces that have become colloquially known as "popups". This film technique reached its height of popularity in 2011-2014 due to the success of various franchises relying on that technique, including Hospital Nightmare.

Jumpscares in the movie essentially fill the screen with one image of the director's choosing while playing a sound (usually a sped-up version of an explosion sound of a subspace tripmine) when the image appears. This film technique is still used to this day in the creation of many horror movies in Roblox, though they are overused less than in the peak period of their popularity.

• Freddy Krueger: Found at CP 5 on the broken bridge, can be an obstacle for some players.
• Ending Screen: Reads "Made by adrian928 and ColdDeveloper! Play Hospital Nightmare 5 for more fun!"

Hospital Nightmare 5

• A generic Roblox zombie: Found at CP 1 in the black air vent.
• Skull (from the cover of the fantasy book “Necroscope”): At CP 2 in a vent which can be reached by a ladder.
• Various pop-ups with the text "You Will Die!"

Hospital Nightmare 2

• Skull: Same as Hospital Nightmare 5.
• Generic ROBLOX Zombie: Again, same as Hospital Nightmare 5. Appears directly before the winner's room.

• There was originally going to be a cart ride scene in the series, as stated on a 2011 social media post by the director of the Hospital Nightmare 3 movie. However, Adrian and ColdDeveloper directed Hospital Nightmare 4 instead. The "hallway" design of much of the setting of Hospital Nightmare 4 and its long last scene may be remnants of this scrapped idea.
• The current Hospital Nightmare 5 was initially marketed as the sequel to Hospital Nightmare 3 upon its release in 2012, being initially called Hospital Nightmare 4. When the current Hospital Nightmare 4 was released shortly afterwards, however, the two movies swapped number. It is unknown if this is true.
• Hospital Nightmare 3 originally had some taglines such as "The Return", "Really Scary" and "The Doctors Apointment"^[sic].
