Monica, originally known in Neo-Japan as Monika Kiseragi (Neo-Japanese: キセラギ・モニカ) is an fictional character originating from the Neo-Japanese anime series, Monica’s Literary Crew.

She is voiced by Mari Takamine in Neo-Japanese and by Fiona Marshall (credited as Stacy Anderson) in the Bloxlish dubbed version of the series.

History

NOTE #2: FOR THE SAKE OF SIMPLICITY, THE DUBBED NAMES ARE USED IN HER LORE INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL NEO-JAPANESE NAMES.

Monica was first introduced in Episode 1 of the series when she is invited by Amy to join the literary club (or as Amy calls it, the Literary Crew), at first, she was acting rude because she wanted to not befriend the other members of the group and wanted to be solo instead.

But then, after a couple of months, Monica suddenly began taking a interest on making friends, which was presumably caused due to an conversation Monica had with an unnamed teacher about sportsmanship.

So because of that, she began befriending the members of her school club despite her initial indifference towards the group.

At the end of the series, the literary club disbanded after Monica left the school and Amy was not interested in being the next president of the literary club.

Personality

When the series started, Monica was depicted as a teenage girl who did not want to make friends,

However, as the series progressed, Monica became more socially active thanks to the other members of the Literary Crew besides herself.

Appearance

Monica is a girl who has strawberry brown hair tied in a ponytail, green eyes and is mostly seen wearing a blue schoolgirl uniform.

In some episodes of the anime, her casual clothes are shown and they consist of a green-and light-green striped shirt, purple overalls, and dark-and-light brown shoes.

Relationships:

Amy

In the series, Monica and Amy’s relationship is considered to be very complex due to the fact that both of them start out as full-on foes, as Amy did not like Monica because the former thought that Monica was a “weird girl” due to the fact that Monica lacked any social skills, and Monica did not like Amy because she thought that the latter was being “bossy”.

However, as time went on, Monica and Amy went from being foes to being friends, after both of them decided to set their differences aside after both of them became the president and vice president respectively of the literary club.

Trivia

  • In the series, her age has not been confirmed but it is implied that she is 13, this is because her birthday is mentioned to be on September 22nd, 1977, which implies that if she really is 13, then the anime most likely takes place in the year of 1990.
