On the evening of March 24, 2021, Sidney Mendoza (born February 9, 2010), known online as gamecharlie1 disappeared from her home, heading in the direction of the town of Forstford. She had earlier left the home to go somewhere into a different town, after getting into a heated argument with her family. Soon after, her family heard her scream help when she was abducted by Spencer Russell. Her family reported her missing from the town, and a week later, authorities began a search and rescue operation.
Spencer Russell then hacked her BloxTube account, changing its channel name to hipnotezdhp, where Spencer Russell then proceeded to upload shockingly gruesome videos. Those videos usually would be like a usual playthrough video, except every time the player died, it was replaced with footage of Spencer Russell stabbing or slashing Sidney Mendoza for five consecutive seconds.
Sidney's body was discovered drifting in the Perfumed Stream on April 12, more than three weeks after she vanished from the region. She was coated in blood and debris, had over 50 stab wounds, over 20 slashes on her torso, and had her face torn out. After her body's discovery, a thorough police investigation was started the next day, and eventually, more than four months after the occurrence, suspect Spencer Russell was apprehended for killing Sidney Mendoza.

September 19, 2021, saw the charging of Spencer Russell with one count of first-degree murder. The following month, It was discovered that Spencer Russell was responsible for the hacking of Charlie Plays Games. Russell will not be eligible for release from jail after being formally sentenced to life in prison on November 1, 2021. Although he was finally freed, the government kept a watch on him in case he attempted to abduct children or hack a Bloxtube account again. Spencer fled away to Brookhaven and lived there for months until he was discovered and taken away by the police. The murder of Sidney Mendoza was Spencer's first and only successful murder and hacking attempt in his life.
Following the news of Sidney Mendoza's disappearance, and subsequently the hacking of Charlie Plays Games, a number of individuals and news stations across took notice. Later, many of them started making films about her disappearance and her channel, which gave rise to the "SidneyGone" genre. They frequently used her online handle or her Bloxtube channel, gamecharlie1 or Charlie Plays Games, respectively.

She was born on February 9, 2010, to Ashtyn Hebert, the mother, and Brenton Fletcher, the father. Sidney Mendoza was 11 years old when she vanished. When Sidney Mendoza was younger, she was reportedly an avid admirer of cartoons like Pokémon and other shows on television as well as painting art. She resided at Greenflower, a village in Keviabloxia, and attended Laguna Beach Elementary School. She was also well-known on the internet, where she went by the handle gamecharlie1, which was derived from the real name of one of her friends and the "1" that stood for her love of the number. On Christmas Eve 2020, she moved into the family's new house for the first time as her complete family traveled to the United States on December 15, 2020. According to her parents, Sidney "wanted to go back" to his former nation after leaving a new one and wasn't at all content. Notwithstanding this, Sidney began to "like" the new nation; nonetheless, she was soon bullied and despised much at her school, Waterford Middle School. To avoid COPPA detection, she would usually disguise herself as a 13-year-old.
During Abduction
The kidnapper during this time hacked Charlie Plays Games. First, the hacker would change the name of the channel to hipnotezdhp. Subscribers in response were aware of the impromptu name channel change and started to unsubscribe to her in droves. The hacker would then rename the last video, causing even more subscribers to leave. Charlie was losing monetization privileges due to a loss of subscribers. Then, the hacker would begin to take over her channel content creation.
Spencer Russell
Spencer Russell was born on January 4, 2004. He was raised in Rovada, with an abusive, Oofish-centric dad and a mom who was 15 years old and was a slave to Spencer’s dad. He is a Bloxtube hacker prodigy wearing a black hat, having taken and passed a community college class on ethical hacking when he was 16. There, he learned how to hack a user's account and the signature encryption technique known as a Keyboard Smash, an effective encryption procedure that is irreversible to both the black-hat hacker and to the account being hacked (colloquially referred to as a hackee).
Spencer Russell had been sent to jail many times for unsuccessfully stealing children from stores and parks.
