Fredrick Roberts (August 17, 1942 – January 7, 2026) was a popular Robloxian writer known for writing both, novels and short stories. As of now, he has sold more than 200 million copies worldwide and he was considered one of the “best writers of the late-20th and early-21st century”. He had a talent of writing stories since childhood and eventually started writing stories in the 1970s. Roberts’ last popular novel was made in July 2025, Roberts, which was a biography on his life. Coincidently, he passed away several months following the release of the biography, in January 2026.

Fredrick Roberts began submitting his early work during the starting of the 1970s decades, which already helped him gain reputation as a literary figure. Roberts writings focused on social change, and internal introspective conflict. He was known to have developed his “own writing style” by the late 1970s. Roberts’ first commercially published novel appeared in 1976 called Fences Blocking Us, that mostly received positive reviews. Throughout the 1980s, he published fewer novels than previously, however his novels had gotten even more popular which resulted in Roberts to become a household name. Many of his novels eventually became bestsellers within Robloxia before expanding to international audiences. By the 1990s, Roberts was widely regarded as one of the most influential Robloxian writers of his generation, with his international fame significantly expanding between 1992 and 1993.

In the later decades of his career, Roberts continued writing despite reducing public appearances. Instead of long stories, Roberts began writing more shorter stories which were especially directed towards kids. Following his death on January 7, 2026, tributes from writers, critics, and readers highlighted his significant influence on Robloxian literature.

Early life

Fredrick Roberts was born on August 17, 1942, in Bloxburg, Bloxburg Valley. He was the second child of Harold Roberts and Mary Roberts, out of five children. Roberts was born into a family who strongly enjoyed storytelling. His parents and teachers had noted that his talent in writing and crafting stories. Throughout his primary and secondary education, he enrolled in the mixed school, Bloxburg Southern School.

During his adolescence, Roberts experimented different writing styles and had enjoyed daydreaming his stories when idle, or bored in school.

Life and career

After finishing school, Roberts worked as a librarian at Bloxburg Public Library for a short time, which exposed him to different writing styles that inspired him to write. Later, in 1971, he began submitting short stories to local Robloxian magazines, gaining early recognition. Roberts released his first major novel, Fences Blocking Us (1976). The novel explored the struggles of small-town life and had ended up becoming a massive commercial success, with most reviews being largely positive. Throughout the 1980s, Roberts had made up his own writing routine which had also gained recognition among people who frequently read his books. He woke up at 5 a.m everyday and would write short stories with the highest quality possible and choose one to continue working on for publishing

Roberts also frequently travelled around Robloxia in the late 1980s, visiting many places and famous people. and neighboring regions, drawing inspiration from diverse cultures and landscapes. His 1984 novel Shadows Over The Hill became an instant bestseller. On the same year he released, Blocky Bricks, which led to the release of the movie, Bloxy in 1986. In February 1990, Roberts met George W. Blox at the White House which was widely reported in media. In the 1990s, Roberts attempted to develop stories among more diverse genres as he began making his own “realm”, particularly doing the action of world-building. During the early 1990s, his international fame rose significantly. Between 1997 and 1998, Roberts incorporated magic more into his novels. Around this time, he also began to mentor younger writers. In 1999, he released, The Pen’s Journey (1999), which became immensely popular, especially among teenagers. By the 2000s, Roberts focused increasingly on shorter stories, and later shifted his audience focus to children as he stated “imagination must be nurtured early.” in July 2003. Roberts released Roberts (2025), which was one of his final public works that reflected his personal journey in life.

Death

Fredrick Roberts died on January 7, 2026 at the age of 83 due to kidney cancer which he had not been diagnosed with previously. His death was widely covered in media and tributes spread throughout the nation.
