The Nakoof Central Prison, formerly known as the Nakoof Metropolitan Penitentiary, is a federal detention centre located in the Station Avenue neighborhood of Nakoof, the administrative capital of Sebelsti, in the sub-prefecture of Central-West Nakoof. It houses both male and female prisoners of all security levels, and is operated by the Sebelsti Directorate of Prisons. In January 2026, there were 5,102 inmates in the prison, with many of them awaiting trial in the Nakoof Region Court. It has also been selected as a facility for holding inmates charged in accordance with the Nakoof Trials of 2026.
Establishment and History
During the colonial era under Ro-Portugal, a small fort was established on the site in 1899, for holding convicted military prisoners, and sailors captured by the police at sea. It was later abandoned and used by the colonial authorities, and burned down multiple times during various uprisings against the colonial government. After Sebelsti became a member of the Tovokian Union in 1918, an armory was built on top of it. After Sebelsti became an independent country, it continued being used as an armory until the 1983 Revolution, when the armory was demolished and a prison was constructed on it, called the Nakoof Metropolitan Penitentiary. The main building had 5 levels, and was shaped like an octagon. The original building was demolished in 1994, and replaced with the current complex. The new building has a grooved-triangle style façade, along with the 14 different annexes located on the site.
In 2004, a riot broke out in the prison, leading to multiple injuries. A lockdown as a result lasted for over 10 hours. After that, security procedures were tightened. The next year, a new hospital facility was opened along with 2 more units.
In 2010, tourists visiting Sebelsti from Hokanda were arrested and taken to the facility, on charges of distributing fursuits, which are prohibited in Sebelsti. However, all five of them were sent back to Hokanda without charges, after pressure from the Hokandan embassy in Nakoof.
In 2015, a new block was built in the prison for administrative isolation inmates. It is allegedly visible from the hill on Roblox Avenue.
In 2020, the prison began seeing use for detaining inmates accused of committing terrorism in North Noobania, as a part of Sebelsti’s crackdown on violence in the region under the BaconHairBlox government.
In 2026, the Nakoof Trials begun, supervised by a special committee made up of United Roblox Countries delegates as well as Bloxji officials and Sebelstian officials. The committee chose the prison as the site for holding detainees.
