Field Trip Z is a 2020 Robloxian horror adventure film directed by Souls999 and produced by Splitting Point Studios. The movie was released on theaters on April 17, 2020. It was originally scheduled to be released on March 11, 2020, but at that time, theaters in Robloxia were closed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. It got pushed week after week until the marginal benefit of the film outweighed the marginal cost of it. Despite it appearing in 571 theaters that have now reopened under lowered maximum occupancy, the production company was able to make a profit from the film. The film would have been a bomb if it were released on March 11, 2020 and the weeks after until April 17, 2020.
Plot
Production
Souls999 pitched the idea to various production companies such as Universal Pictures and Noob Productions, but they all rejected the idea. The only production company that accepted the idea was Splitting Point Studios, based in the City of Bloxburg, and would end up being the main producer of the film.
Filming
Filming began on September 21, 2019, in Bloxburg City and Ensenada. Later, the team moved to Blockfield, South Robloxia to shoot action scenes. Filming concluded on December 17, 2019. The scene of the attack in the hospital was recorded at the UBBC Medical Center in Santa Catalina.
Premiere
The premiere was on April 17, 2020, at the Baszucki Theater in Bloxburg City.
If the film would had released on March 11, 2020 and the weeks after until April 17, 2020, it was reportedly likely to become a box-office flop.
Possible Sequel
After the success of the film, Splitting Point Studios approached Souls999 for a possible sequel to the film. Negotiations began in 2021. In the summer of 2022, Souls999 said in an interview that a sequel was not assured.
In a statement from The Bloxywood Reporter, the news of the possible sequel was released.
