Azol Bloxrazilian Airlines Flight 1950 was a flight from Sao Paulo-Guarulhos Airport to Perth Airport.

Aircraft

The aircraft was a 3 month old Robus R350-900 registered as PR-YOY.

Flight

The flight was from Sao Paulo-Guarulhos Airport to Perth Airport. It had 216 total occupants, 211 passengers, 2 pilots, and 3 crew members.

Incident

At 14:27PM, Flight 1590 departed Sao Paulo with no issues. The flight was uneventful until the approach.

Approach to YPPH/Perth International

On approach, the unnamed and unidentified flight crew noticed that the nose landing gear was locked. The flight issued a mayday call and the approach gave them clearance to land on Runway 33. The weather at Perth was foggy, with almost zero visibility, making the trouble double worse. The aircraft was unable to land due to the airport not in sight, so the air traffic control cleared the flight for landing on Runway 15. The flight had only saw the airport once they were about 50-100 feet above the ground.

Touchdown

The aircraft landed at YPPH’s Runway 15 at 7:33AM and instantly the nose hit the runway and was scraping. The aircraft slowed down gradually and the aircraft hit numerous structures including three trees and the runway threshold and PAPI lights. The aircraft finally came to a stop on the mouth of Mount de Perth Francis. Everybody survived with 2 occupants (both the pilots) sustaining injuries.

Aftermath

PR-YOY was damaged beyond repair and as a result, written off. Azol had then terminated its flights to Perth after a year. AD1950 was retired and replaced by AD1951 and the route was switched from Sao Paulo to Brazilia.
