Incident
In 6:30 MYT, AirAsia 8723, or AK8723, was scheduled to fly to Penang International Airport in November 12, 2025. 60 passengers boarded the aircraft, with three flight attendants, the pilot and the copilot. However, the plane departed in 6:40. While flying, the plane had reported no issues, but the plane was alerted of heavy crosswinds in Pulau Binang.
By 7:30, the plane was approaching Pulau Binang, before the plane was too high in attitude to land at the runway, thus a go-around was made. While on the go-around, the plane experienced crosswinds, and while landing, the plane banked sharply to the right, to correct the direction of the plane, the plane was supposed to tilt to the left, before the plane started to bank sharply to the left. However the pilot had initiated another go-around, in which they suggested returning to Bloxa Lumpur. But meanwhile climbing, the plane slowed down and entered a stall. The stall had a duration of 20 seconds, and when the stall was noticeable, it was too late, the pilots had attempted to increase the speed, and even considered an emergency landing, but the stall was inevitable.
In 7:48, the plane slammed near the airport premises, killing all 66 occupants of the aircraft, and injuring 10 people on the ground. The crash is investigated now by the Luobese Ministry of Transport and AirAsia.
