On August 12th, 2025, at 11:47 AM, a dispute between a cashier and a customer led to a stabbing that killed not only the cashier, but a Sheriff's Deputy aswell.



The Dispute

The motivation for the stabbing was a small dispute between a cashier and a customer, just because Chris did not have enough cash to buy the items.

He then attempted to exit with the items, without paying for them, however, the cashier prevented him from doing this, and unintentionally aggravated Chris to the point where he pulled a knife.

The Stabbing

Dispatch Logs, 11:45 AM

At 11:47, Deputy Joann Webb arrived at the store, and attempted to de-escalate the situation.

Dep. Webb - "Hey! Sir! I need you to put the knife down, alright?"
Chris - "Why should I?"
Dep. Webb - "Because its considered threatening and makes other people think that you're about to stab them."
Chris - "Well that's what I plan to do"
Dep. Webb - "Just put it down for me, alright?"
Chris - "No way! You're all gonna die!"
Dep. Webb [Radio] - "9S24 - LibComm, he's refusing to put down the knife, roll me multiple 32s please."
Dep. Webb - "Listen to me, I really don't want to tase someone today, just put it down, man."
Chris - "YOU'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"

Bodycam Audio, 11:47 AM - 11:48 AM

At 11:48, Chris charged the cashier with the knife, stabbing him in the heart and neck, before running at the deputy.

Deputy Webb drew her service firearm and shot 3 rounds at the suspect, hitting all 3 in the torso, however the suspect was already multiple feet away, and slammed into her, knife first, stabbing her in the left lung. This was when Webb hit her panic button.

She was able to continue to fight Chris in a struggle, with her Taser after the fact recording not 1, but 2 deployments.

Eventually, she fell unconscious as a pneumothorax started, the cause being the stab wound.

When backup arrived, they took the suspect into custody, and began aid on both the Cashier, and Deputy Webb.

The Cashier was already long dead, and Deputy Webb was LifeFlighted as a trauma alert, before succumbing to her injuries at the Liberty County Hospital
