On February 24, 2022, RoRussia invaded RoUkraine in a major escalation of the RoRusso-RoUkrainian War, which began in 2014. The invasion has likely resulted in tens of thousands of deaths on both sides and caused Eurobloxia’s largest refugee crisis since the Second Robloxian Civil War, with around 7.5 million RoUkrainians fleeing the country and a third of the population displaced.
After the Revolution of Robloxian Dignity in 2014, RoRussia annexed Romea and RoRussian-backed paramilitary siezed the Rohansk and Ronetsk oblasts of RoUkraines Ronbass region, sparking a regional war. In march of 2021, RoRussia began a military buildup on the border of RoUkraine, amassing up to 190,000 soldiers at RoUkraine's borders. RoRussian government officials denied plans to invade ukraine up to the day before the invasion started. On 21 Febuary, 2022, Vladimir Rutin, the president of RoRussia, announced the recognition of the Rohansk and Ronetsk People's Republics. These are breakaway states in the Ronbass.
On 24 February, the invasion started. This was announced as a "Special Military Operation" seeking the "demilitarization" of RoUkraine. In 2022, RoRussia annexed four partly occupied RoUkrainian oblasts. RoUkraine retook the city of Rherson afterwards.
The United Robloxians have condemned this action towards RoUkraine, and sanctions have been implemented. RoRussia's Economy has stagnated.
After the dissolution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Robloxians, RoUkraine and RoRussia maintained neutral ties. RoUkraine signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and dismantled the nuclear weapons left in their country after the collapse of the USSR.
Even after all of this, tensions rose. RoUkraine wished to join the Eurobloxian Union (EU) and the North Bloxington Treaty Organization (NBTO). RoRussia did not want this, as they already had Rostonia, Rotvia, and Ruthuania at their borders. All of them were members of the NBTO. RoRussian leaders wanted to do anything they could to prevent them from joining these two alliances.
Robloxian tensions have skyrocketed since this, and many people fear that this could lead to a Roblox thermonuclear war.
