The 2018 Great Stormtopia Earthquake was a 9.9 moment magnitude earthquake that struck in the Bloxian Sea, just SE of Bloxburg on an unknown date on 2018. It triggered a tsunami that washed away half of Jailbreak City. The shaking from this earthquake was felt at Roblox City, 936 km from the epicenter. This is the most felt earthquake in Robloxia History and the most felt in a Roblox scale. It was also the costliest earthquake ever recorded.

Even weak shaking was reported in Roblox City. This earthquake also caused damage.

Pre-earthquake

Until 3 years prior to the earthquake, the area was quiet. 2 years prior to the earthquake, a tremor, a magnitude 4.9, impacted around 9 miles south of the main earthquake's epicenter. Much speculation went into this tremor as it was thought to have been a foreshock of an earthquake. This was the case. 2 months later, another, slightly larger, tremor impacted the same area, with a magnitude of 6.0. Even more speculation went into this, as foreshocks, on average, increased in size and seismologists prayed this will be the main earthquake.

Jailbreak City issued an extra precaution warning for the city of Jailbreak City. 4-6 months before the earthquake, 4 more tremors ranging between 5.2 and 6.2 struck in the same area. The Roblox Geological Survey (RGS) put the area surrounding Jailbreak City in "High" risk of a major earthquake until 2020. 3 months before the earthquake, a non-significant magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Storm Valley, injuring 5. 2 months before the earthquake, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake impacted, sending shaking all the way to Storm Valley. The month before the earthquake, the area was quiet for the third time until 10 days before the earthquake, when a magnitude 7.9 earthquake impacted.

During earthquake

At an unknown date and time, the 9.9 magnitude earthquake struck violently. Shaking was strong enough that a tsunami was triggered that washed away half of Jailbreak City.

Post-earthquake

This tremor was followed by almost 221,000 aftershocks, with the second strongest, an 8.6 magnitude tremor occurring 1 day after the main shock. 14% were over magnitude 6, 24% were over magnitude 5, and the rest below 5. Around 1.4% of those aftershocks were felt as far as Roblox City. This earthquake, due to the extensive nature of it, also caused other, more local earthquakes, such as a 6.2 east of Storm Valley, a 6.4 in Jailbreak International Airport, and a 5.7 offshore of Amazeman. Massive fires broke out near Jailbreak City and fire fighters were about to put out the massive fires when the first strongest, a 9.0 magnitude tremor occurred. Most of the aftershocks over magnitude 5 were between 7.5 to 9.5.

The Tsunami

The seismic waves went over the coast of Jailbreak City, pushing the water away from the shore, which exposed a 10-mile portion of the coast of Jailbreak City to be barren. The result was a 1000-foot wave that leveled the coastal communities of the Bloxian Sea and 760 miles inland, but when it hit Jailbreak City, it was already a 500-foot-high wave.

In Jailbreak City, the wave destroyed the Jailbreak-Amazeman Bridge. The wave held its 500-foot height until it hit downtown, knocking over the already majorly damaged skyscrapers. It went as far inland as 10 miles, causing hills to become lone islands.

In Jailbreak City, 150,000 buildings collapsed to the tsunami, with another 449,000 with moderate-major damage, making them uninhabitable. Many subway trains were caught off-guard, with a subway train outside of Jailbreak City getting derailed due to the tsunami. This was, by far, one of the most felt tsunamis in Roblox history. Researched by scientists, they discovered that this was once every 347,000-year event. This also broke the all-time record for the strongest tsunami in the Jailbreak City. Large areas of the Jailbreak City lost power. Some of the older houses in Jailbreak City reported being without power. Older apartments in Jailbreak City lost power. Water also was cut off significantly in some localities. Many aqueducts were completely destroyed due to the tsunami. Large portions of Interblox 27 also collapsed and/or sustained major damage, making them inaccessible. Jailbreak City's subway was closed due to damage to the subway trains and the tracks, and due to large-scale inspections. Many robloxians got broken arms and legs.

In the rest of the Bloxian Sea, 401,000 buildings either collapsed to the tsunami or survived with moderate-major damage, making them uninhabitable. Many trains were caught off-guard, with a train outside of Roblox City getting derailed due to the tsunami. This was, by far, one of the most felt tsunamis in Roblox history. Researched by scientists, they discovered that this was once every 347,000-year event. This is also breaking the all-time record for the strongest tsunami in the Bloxian Sea. Large areas of the Bloxian Sea lost power. Some of the older houses in Bloxian Sea reported being without power. Older apartments in Bloxian Sea lost power. Water also was cut off significantly in some localities. Many aqueducts were completely destroyed due to the tsunami. Large portions of Interbloxs also collapsed and/or sustained major damage, making them inaccessible. Robloxia's rail system was closed due to damage to the trains and the tracks, and due to large-scale inspections. Robloxians died in trains from being thrown into the roof or receiving a major concussion. Many robloxians also got broken arms and legs. Robloxians also died because of collapsed buildings.

Over 9.5 million Robloxians were displaced or rendered homeless, and many tens of thousands were injured, with Robloxian Red Cross and charities establishing camps to treat the wounded and temporarily house nearly six hundred thousand refugees in Jailbreak City often in crowded and unsanitary conditions without electricity or running water.

The tsunami was the deadliest and costliest in American history, taking some 56,000 lives. The event triggered a stock market crash and devastated the economy of the Jailbreak City region. The disaster was the center point of the 2018 mid-term election of Robloxia, and public dissatisfaction with mayor's treatment of the tsunami, and Robloxian Red Cross and Charities mismanagement. The tsunami is widely considered to be the greatest Robloxian tragedy.

Despite severe losses, the city was nominated for categories that it would not normally fit in. The city also won over 10 Bloxy Awards, causing many petitions calling for the judges to be replaced and the Bloxy Awards to be host again.

No major earthquake has ever hit the region since 2018.
