The 2016-2017 New Blockers City Impeach Bobhero Protests and Riots were a series of protests, riots, demonstrations, and acts of violence led by independent activists, partnering with a militant protest group known as Robloxians Against Inactive Mayors (RAIM), that started on December 26, 2016, with the full implementation of the executive order which was simply codenamed V2.5, with the goal of getting the executive order rescinded, and ended on November 7, 2017, with the election of a new mayor which effectively impeached Bobhero, accomplishing the second goal of the protest. When rescinding of the executive order proved to be impossible due to a statement by Bobhero saying he was doing this to fix broken things, reduce parts, reduce lag, and optimize scripts, as well as the fact he later was seen out of New Blockers City Hall and even the entire city he was supposed to govern, protests shifted their goals to get Bobhero impeached for dishonesty. The series was notable for being the only round of anti-Bobhero protests on Bobhero's second term, and 13.6 million Robloxians took part in some demonstration, most of whom participated in the peaceful "New Blockers City Exodus Movement". The riots climaxed on November 6, 2017, when RAIM would board a bomber plane in a nearby air force base and would drop explosive payloads on key government buildings in New Blockers City, emptying the cabinet of Bobhero as many cabinet members were killed, except for one cabinet member who was critically burned as an incendiary device charred him nearly into a crisp and eventually decided to host an mayoral election to replace Bobhero in a request while he was sent to the New Blockers City Medical (he fortunately recovered from his critical third-degree burns and resigned from being a cabinet member of Bobhero). In the election, Bobhero only got 1,499 voters, and his opponent got the rest of the votes, making this the most dramatic landslide in a two-candidate mayoral election in recorded robloxian history.

Background:

In the city of New Blockers City on December 25, 2016, the New Blockers City government under Bobhero's administration executed an Executive Order which was only known as V2.5, which included immediate plans to replace the train system in the city due to it being broken and outdated, the demolition of John F. Kenny International Airport, the demolition of all of the city's housing due to it being "laggy", the demolition of all the city's schools due to it having too many parts, the defunding of the Fire Department of New Bloxia, and the removal of all the city's street lights and traffic lights due to the scripts being unoptimized. Upon the execution of the executive order, many robloxians, especially railyard employees, housed robloxians, airport workers, school workers, and firefighters, argued that the executive order was too serious and that Bobhero was treating New Blockers City as if it were a game. However, Bobhero then said that he would rebuild the city housing to include apartments and houses, airport, schools, fire department, street lights, traffic lights, and train system to make it functional and up-to-date, increasing the approval rating. However, shortly after, Bobhero privately announced that he would be leaving New Blockers City to work on his other areas, which incited the protests on December 26, 2016.

Events:

On December 26, 2016, the last train arrived to and the last train departed from the railyard in New Blockers City in the Green Hook District prior to the railyard being demolished on the same day. All trains planned to enter New Blockers City after December 26, 2016 were advised to not stop here, and instead just go to the nearest railyard not in the city limits itself.

On December 27, 2016, the last plane arrived to and departed from the John F. Kenny Airport prior to the airport being demolished on the same day. All planes planned to enter New Blockers City after December 26, 2016 were advised to not stop here, and instead just go to the nearest airport. As a result, Liberty Airport (also in New Blockers City which was not affected fortunately by the executive order) and Semerdon Liberty International Airport in nearby adjacent Semerdon, New Rosey saw a sudden influx in aviation and air traffic.

On December 28, 2016, as a part of the executive order, every robloxian who was in a house or apartment within in the city limits itself were evicted. The eviction notice said that "new apartments and homes will be coming soon with less lag!". However, little did the robloxians know that Bobhero would not building any apartments and homes, and this sparked the New Blockers City Exodus Movement.

On December 29, 2016, as part of the executive order, schools were demolished within the city limits itself due to it containing too many parts. Since many school-age robloxian children wanted to continue their education, this amplified the exodus movement, and many robloxian children continued their school year in another school until November 7, 2017. Online-only schools were not affected due to location being not physical, but virtual.

On December 30, 2016, the Fire Department of New Bloxia reported that their funding by the mayor had stopped entirely. Being forced into bankruptcy, the fire department began to cease operations on all of its fire stations. Each fire fighter was tasked of returning the hoses. Later, the fire stations closed for good. Unfortunately, the side effects of closing the fire stations were that the city would no longer have an emergency response to fires that would break out in the city. One notable instance was an accidental fire in a New Blockers City Police Department station cafeteria when someone incorrectly prepared a meal, and the fire response was not from the Fire Department of New Bloxia, but from the Semerdon Fire Department in Semerdon, New Rosey. The fire was contained by the hoses, but because the fire response was longer due to the distance, the fire was able to consume more flammable fuels and as a result, became larger as a consequence.

Finally, on December 31, 2016, the city removed all of its street lights and traffic lights, replacing them with things that do not require a light, such as stop signs. This move was positively seen as the city's contribution to atmospheric light pollution was significantly reduced, allowing the city to see New Year's Eve fireworks as they were intended to be: bright. However, firework incidents, especially pyrotechnic caused fires, saw a delayed response time due to the defunding of the fire department and the calling of a nearby fire department.

On January 2, 2017, the day after New Year's 2017, the office of Bobhero in the New Blockers City Hall was strangely vacant, with no robloxian knowing where he went. The deputy mayor (TheFailedOverseer) tried to ask him if he has plans to rebuild everything that he demolished, but he did not reply. As a result, the deputy mayor assumed office, but he proceeded to continue with the plan Bobhero put until Bobhero was finished with his vacation, which infuriated protesters. Later, the New Blockers City Police Department was informed about a missing robloxian by the name of Bobhero. A missing poster was put around the city, asking Robloxians if they have seen Bobhero and contacting the New Blockers City Police Department immediately on his whereabouts. After this, the protests shifted towards more about getting Bobhero impeached for dishonesty than getting Bobhero to rescind the executive order.

As protests and riots escalated throughout the months, the New Blockers City Police Department was involved to control the riots and make sure protests do not become riots. The organization known as RAIM decided to stage peaceful protests in New Blockers City to get Bobhero impeached for dishonesty and mayoral inactivity.

Eventually, November 2017 came, with no response from Bobhero and robloxians being unable to find him, including the New Blockers City Police Department admitting in a case report that they searched all of New Blockers City to conclude that he is outside of New Blockers City, it became time for punishment, especially when most employees of Bobhero swore to wait until he came back to discuss his plans.

On November 7, 2017, protests and riots calmed down for one day to allow the election to proceed without voter suppression and interference. The results were in; Bobhero got 1,499 votes, mostly from homeless citizens who believed Bobhero would come back and rebuild their homes and apartments, and the opponent got a significant number of votes. As a result, Bobhero was effectively impeached out of office, which caused the protest to be won.

Aftermath:

After the protests died down in November 7, 2017, the weeks leading up to January 1, 2018 saw a net in-migration driven by the fact the new mayor would immediately rescind the Executive Order V2.5, which brought the city population to 31.1 million on January 1, 2018 before stabilizing.

On November 8, 2017, the city's railyard was rebuilt, allowing trains to stop here for the first time since December 26, 2016.

On November 9, 2017, John F. Kenny International Airport was rebuilt, allowing planes to stop here for the first time since December 27, 2016. As a result, Liberty Airport (also in New Blockers City which was not affected fortunately by the executive order) and Semerdon Liberty International Airport in nearby adjacent Semerdon, New Rosey saw a sudden decrease in aviation and air traffic.

On November 10, 2017, new homes and apartments would be built, housing the Robloxians who have been displaced from their houses and apartments as a part of the executive order.

On November 11, 2017, despite being a federal holiday, schools were rebuilt, and the new mayor paid respect not only for veterans, their service, and their sacrifices on Veterans Day, but also paid respect to every robloxian who was affected by the executive order. As a result, the Robloxian flag was flown at the same height as the New Blockers City flag, and ceremonies were held in Robloxia by organizations of veterans and robloxians displaced, and offering sincere thanks to the veterans and robloxians. It was also a day to recognize the veteran's dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting freedom, but also the robloxian's dedication, courage, and commitment to continue living their lives, even if they were forcibly displaced. On November 13, 2017, schools reopened fully.

On November 12, 2017, funding resumed for the Fire Department of New Bloxia. Hoses were returned to fire fighters, and at least 110 fire stations reopened and restarted their operations in New Blockers City, after the Fire Department of New Bloxia exited bankruptcy.

On November 13, 2017, the entire mayor cabinet of the new mayor had to work remotely due to the city hall not being rebuilt. Meanwhile, the street lights and traffic lights were returned, replacing the stop signs that had dominated most intersections. There was a minor controversy on the fact those lights contributed to light pollution, but the controversy subsided without a protest. Meanwhile, the students of New Blocker City schools started to return to school.

On November 14, 2017, after the city hall was built, the new mayor cabinet worked in-person. New Blockers City after a week was back to normal, and it would gradually get more heavily populated until January 1, 2018, when the new mayor was inaugurated to office.

Bobhero was last seen logged into the government website on an unknown date of 2025, revealing that he was still alive. It is unknown if he would ever return to New Blockers City to govern.

Sub-Movements:

New Blockers City Exodus Movement

On December 28, 2016, a short-term exodus with net out-migration driven by the fact housing was demolished occurred due to Bobhero believing it caused too much lag. The exodus resulted in Robloxians moving to other cities near New Blockers City, such as Semerdon, New Rosey, which saw most of the Robloxians from New Blockers City migrating here due to it being the closest city to New Blockers City. This exodus lasted throughout the remainder of the protests, and it was so successful and had such a high departure rate that the city no longer became heavily populated, and in the end, only 1,499 citizens remained at the city at the height of the movement. Acceleration of the exodus was created when schools would also close.

Old New Blockers City Hall Bombing

On November 6, 2017, in an nearby air force base, RAIM boarded an bomber plane and decided to drop explosive payloads on key government buildings in New Blockers City, including the New Blockers City Hall. This resulted in the city hall being destroyed as a joint combination of an explosive payload and an incendiary device was detonated, killing every government employee inside, except for one government employee who was hospitalized and in the New Blockers City Medical for critical third-degree burns and was thinking about considering running an election to fill Bobhero's vacancy.

Liberty Airport's air traffic control tower caught the aircraft when it flew over the tower. Surprisingly, RAIM was proficient in squawking, therefore, Liberty Airport never did anything to stop the attempted bombing when it flew over the tower. However, it later saw suspicion as the bomber flew over New Blockers City Hall. Since the bomber was flying at typical bomber speeds at wartime, law enforcement helicopters were unable to catch the bomber plane. There was talk of bringing a backup of fighter planes to use evasive maneuvers to destroy the law enforcement helicopters, but since the law enforcement was most likely not affected, they felt like it was unnecessary collateral damage.

Legacy:

This protest and riot sequence seems to serve as an inspiration towards future protests and riots, and experts predict that this riot could eventually serve as an inspiration to the 2026 Anti-Corporatist Protests and Riots, which are currently ongoing as of January 31, 2026.
