2010 Great Livetopia earthquake

The 2010 Great Livetopia earthquake was a earthquake that took place in Robloxia December 19, 2010 near the Seaside town in Livetopia. It killed about 18,912 Robloxians. There were not many earthquake and tsunami shelters in Livetopia, because Robloxians thought Livetopia was 'safe' from earthquakes or tsunamis, which led to more injuries or deaths.

A tsunami warning was issued in Livetopia and other affected areas. A nine meter tall tsunami was spotted near Seaside Town, which would cause the most deaths.

This earthquake moved the whole country around 2km.

Scientists say that the plates suddenly moved, which caused strong shaking,

The earthquake's maximum intensity of the earthquake is 7, which caused the Highway 55 overpass in Livetopia to collapse. Highway 55 in Livetopia was closed until 2015.

Pre-Earthquake:

The first foreshocks caused mainly minor damage. The first earthquake, which occurred at approximately 13:03 Eastern Robloxian Time was a magnitude 5.8, with an epicenter near Livetopia in South Bloxlina. It was the largest earthquake in the state of South Bloxlina in 6 years. Although, in 2009, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Eastern Robloxia, a state in Robloxia, which was felt in some areas of Far-Southern South Bloxlina.

Soon, two large earthquakes occurred. A 4.8 earthquake struck the same location as the 5.8 earthquake and was felt in many areas. This, as the 5.8 earthquake, caused minimal damage as well. Multiple smaller 4.4 or less magnitude earthquakes occurred in the area throughout the rest of the afternoon. A 6.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the same area. This caused moderate to major damage across Livetopia, and the Livetopia area. It was felt by a lot of Robloxians. The Bloxington Ocean felt it as well. A 4.0 and a 4.4 magnitude earthquake occurred too.

There were some aftershocks ranging from 3.4 to 4.4 before almost all aftershocks were magnitude 1.9 or below.

There were nearly no aftershocks for a while. However, something strange was happening. Around 3 earthquakes ranging from 2.8 to 3.9 occurred in the eastern parts of the city of Livetopia. Then, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake happened which is very unprecedented. It caused damage to around four houses in Livetopia.

Then, upon further investigation, they discovered something horrid. All of these earthquakes happened because the Robloxia plate was moving. Major precautions were taken in case a larger earthquake happened. They provided over 713 shelters in South Bloxlina, but did not provide any to Livetopia. As the days went on, the earthquakes were increasing in numbers. Around 5 earthquakes ranged from 3.1 to 4.8. Then 6 occurred, ranging from 3.7 to 5.1. Eventually, a 5.7 earthquake happened, mirroring the 5.8 earthquake that happened on 13:03 Eastern Robloxian Time. Moderate to major damage happened in Livetopia. Mass evacuations happened, as models predicted it was very unlikely that it was a main shock.

Last Foreshocks and Main Earthquake:

A series of 3.2, 4.5, and 5.1 earthquakes happened. On 17:32 Eastern Robloxian Time Zone, the 7.2 magnitude earthquake occurred on Seaside Town in Livetopia. Catastrophic damage occurred throughout all of the Livetopia area. A lot of damage also occurred in other areas in the Livetopia areas. The earthquake moved the Robloxia plate by two kilometers. Around 2,376 buildings collapsed, and 5,940 homes were destroyed. Highway 55 collapsed. 18,912 people had died from this earthquake. The majority of Seaside Town and the surrounding areas had evacuation orders.

In Livetopia, the magnitude of the earthquake was reported to be 7.0.

A tsunami warning was issued in Livetopia and other affected areas. A nine meter tall tsunami was spotted near Seaside Town, which would cause the most deaths.

Aftershocks:

A total of around 475 aftershocks happened, with the largest being 5.9, occurring just 2 minutes after the main shock. There were around 11 4.4+ aftershocks, and 48 3.4+ aftershocks over the span of a month. 222 were over 2.4+, and the rest were less than 2.4. Many families could not recover from the incident as many of then were killed by the earthquake. This remains one of the largest of most destructive natural disasters in Robloxia history. The earthquake, since it was so major, sent strong shaking as far away as a neighboring county, which killed many people too. "Weak" shaking was felt as far east as the Bloxington Ocean and as far north as the state of North Bloxlina.

Aftermath:

The earthquake was preliminarily reported to be a 8.3 before it was downgraded to a 7.2.

As stated before, many states offered help to the South Bloxlina Government for recovery efforts. A large fire occurred in the city of Livetopia shortly after, destroying around 11% of what remained, and caused 161.6 billion ROBUX of structural damage. Eventually, recovery efforts had began. It took them approximately a month to recover most of the structures, which finished on January 19, 2011. Highway 55 was unable to be recovered on time and was recovered in 2015. After this quake, various other companies including the Robloxia Geological Survey were working on better ways to inform the public about incoming earthquakes. President Roblox visited one street in Livetopia where every building collapsed and said, "This event is catastrophic. We shall try to begin recovery as soon as possible." The Livetopia Mayor, The South Bloxlina Senator, Roblox's Vice President, and The Governor of South Bloxlina all visited areas affected by the earthquake. Neighboring states offered recovery assistance to South Bloxlina.
